what most impress the admission?
I agree with Calisurf06 regarding being normal. I mean, it's great to have very impressive extracurriculars however, they're also looking for people who can balance their lives with other normal activities.
and to IVYPoison:
I don't think admissions is largely based on having high scores.

I'm looking at these and thinking that I should've applied to Wharton...oh well, I'll just apply for a dual degree or double-major to appease ibanks.

this post amazes me
ferrari6123 is def. a qualified candidate w/ 35 on the ACT along w/ numerous leadership positions

no offense to all the other acceptees
most of them hav leadership positions and average SAT scores

arent there thousands of applicants w/ leadership positions+average SAT scores; moreover, applicants w/ leadership positions+amazing SAT scores

just dont get it... Wharton's so reputable and there are so many competent/overachieving applicants out there...

this thread is not intended to offend any of the acceptees
im sure there must have been something that made them stand out among the rest of the applicants...

im juz really amazed cuz ive been hearing bout PERFECT applicants getting into Wharton in the past couple yrs (ppl i know)...

That's what I was thinking...all these acceptees are obviously brilliant and deserving (c'mon, 2150+ SATs, top 5% or better, etc...), but I had always heard that Wharton was made up of Fortune 500 CEOs (okay, that's an exaggeration, but from past years, it seems like all Wharton acceptees already have incredible business experience).

Were not gonna give away all our secrets on this board jpps1 and Fximpeccable. A great cook never gives away his/her recipe. Those who were accepted to Wharton early decision, including myself, are perfect in their own rites. Standardized scores don't guarantee S**T. There were many people with high scores who were not accepted to Wharton. I don't know why they weren't accepted, but I do know that scores don't guarantee anything.... ANYTHING!!!

I know you say that you mean no offense, but it's a little degrading when you talk about it like that.

I agree with lucky98... i'll tell you something. You don't know me till you spend half an hour with me talking in 5 languages, recounting your years of having lived in different countries and cultures being recognized in different way, playing soccer with me till best of 3 goals, discussing the manners in which you've contributed to the intl community within the past 6 months through strenuous fundraisers and acting across from me on stage as the lead of a play. I don't mean to sound stuck up but as lucky 98 said there's a lot more to an applicant than what their stats say. I see people writing their stats pages longer than their application essay- the first chances thread i wrote was a paragraph long and just because of that i received condescending comments that said i stood very little chance because i was just another ordinary applicant. This collegeconfidential thing of judging eachother has to stop. While everyone here's stats seem ordinary, i'm sure that they have to potential to fill a page-long summary with tangible content on how they are upstanding and bright individuals. Congratulations to all of wharton '10 and best of luck to all RD applicants.

What this thread shows is what all the elite schools keep emphasizing. Admissions is not numbers driven beyond a certain minimum. They are looking for more intangible qualities. All of the CCers who harp on retaking SATs to bring a 780 up to an 800 are obviously barking up the wrong tree.

Whoa, dont jump on me...I said nothing degrading about any of your stats or ECs...however, I always THOUGHT that Wharton practically only took kids with business-oriented ECs. All I was emphasizing was that you guys did not have those ridiculous ECs (internships with major banks, owning profitable companies) that posters on CC claim that one must need to get into Wharton. If anything, you guys have proved that good old stats and character are enough.

i don't think it was your post that we responded to jpps1. It was fximpeccable's use of the term 'qualified' and statement:

"just dont get it... Wharton's so reputable and there are so many competent/overachieving applicants out there..."

when referring to how we could've gotten in. You have to admit that that is a little degrading.

Quick question:

I'm new to the board and the college app process. Is Wharton much harder to get in than the College? Also, is the Nursing and Health Care Management Joint degree as competitive as the Fisher/Huntsman programs to get in?

it seems like a bucket of ice cold water has been thrown on some people here.... they were under the CC illusion that a 790 is needed at minimum! Point is, once you reach a certain level, it's a new competition that doesnt have anything to do with grades.
