Recommendations:
Just like everybody else who's applying to college, my recommendations are awesome!

Essays:
And just like everyone else, my essays are "pretty good."

Demographics:
Asian, male, very competitive high school (sent nine students to Ivy League out of a graduating class of 965...four to Stanford, three to Caltech, and a ton to UCB/UCLA), upper middle class, first generation in America, parents both went to college, Dad is a Chinese Professor w/ PhD. So no help there. Thanks for being so smart, Mom and Pops.

I think you got into all of them except for Yale and Stanford… and mayyyyyybbbe Columbia.

You clearly have a shot, but I’d recommend narrowing down your college list. Don’t apply to all the Ivies just for the sake of it.

EDIT: Not all of them, but you get my point.

^hahah. You need to read everything man…

“By the way, I’m a HS '09…just wanting to see how accurate CC really is =). Yeah, you can go look at my posts but it’ll just spoil the surprise, won’t it?
You probably got into Dartmouth, Columbia, Duke, NW, and the UCs.

For WHYPS, I’d guess 3/5 and maybe a waitlist

Oooh, so far, not too good for CC =(

Gonna go with Dartmouth, the UCs, and Northwestern. WL/rejected by the rest.

Harvard: REJECTED
Yale: REJECTED
Princeton :REJECTED
Columbia: REJECTED
Wharton: REJECTED
Dartmouth: Accepted
Northwestern: Accepted
Duke: Accepted

It was obviously a fluke and you got in everywhere, no need to show off

In at everywhere except HYPSUpennWharton, maybe like 2 waitlists.

I was in at UC’s, NW, Duke, Wharton, and Dartmouth. Waitlist by Columbia and Hahvahd, rejected by the rest.

Dartmouth '13!!

So why’d ya choose Dartmouth over Wharton? haha I remember chancing you way back when =] Good luck at Dartmouth.

Congratulations on Dartmouth.

llpitch, I personally think that Darmouth is underrated on these boards. Someone else I know turned down Stanford and MIT for Dartmouth. And of course, there are the “fit” factors.

I totally agree Dartmouth in underrated on these boards. My brother chose it over wharton as well and he’s doing incredibly well. He went to a top 3 bank, worked in Private Equity, and now is at HBS. And I know he had ten times more fun at Dartmouth than had he gone to Wharton.

llpitch, I vaguely remember you chancing me as well. Pretty cool.

It ended up being a personal fit as opposed to an academic one. Even though I have an inclination to do banking/finance in the future and Wharton would be perfect for that, I just could not let go of Dartmouth’s atmosphere. I had already spent three weeks there in my summer business program and I fell in love. The school spirit, the outdoors, the people, the pride…all of those things made Dartmouth the better fit for me.

It did come down to the last second though, lol. I had actually already SIRed for Wharton electronically because of a yelling mother, but I changed my mind the next day and I felt a lot, lot better.

I’m learning Mandarin Chinese right now x] it’s soo hard, though.

UPenn- You got in.
Wharton- Never heard of it? So I can’t say for sure.
Dartmouth - I think you got in.
Harvard - It was probably a big stretch, but you might have gotten it.
Yale - I don’t think you got in.
Princeton- You probably got in.
Stanford- Maybe, either way.
Columbia - Probably got in
Duke - Got in
Northwestern- Got in
UC Berkeley, - Got in
UCL - Got in

That’s just my guess…

Yea… I would have chosen UPenn over Dartmouth any days… lol
But good job overall! You are making me feel better about my chances!

check mine out too!
