<p>Yeah, so applied to Wharton ED, I did visit and all that and did my research on the school, so here goes:</p>

<p>Major: Economics, I guess
Asian (East Indian)
School GPA: 3.81/4.00 (+.3 for AP/Honors (called AC))
UW GPA: ~3.6
"Most Rigorous" course load possible (including Senior year)
Doesn't rank, but probably top 10-15%
Good public HS in Michigan, class of ~700, sends easily 20+ to Ivies and 100+ acceptances to University of Michigan
ACT: 31 (34 E 32 R 30 M 28 S W: 10 or 11)
AP: 5 English 3 History 2 Chemistry
Essays- My CA one was very good, and I was told that my Why Penn was very good, specific and better than the other kids' applying ED from my school.
Recs-they'll be good, including a great one from the physician who is my employer ( I do research for him). I read one of my teacher's, and it was very good.</p>

<p>Extra Curricular Activities:
Indian Student Union- President (12), Member (10, 11)
Health Ambassadors (Co-founder)- teach children about health (11,12)
Research Position/Assistant at University of Michigan (11,12)
Orchestra- (9,10,11,12) (top level orchestra for 2, section leader in 9th grade)
Private Violin Lessons
Spanish Honors Society (10,11)
Worked as an election inspector in the '06 Gubernatorial Elections
40+ volunteer hours at the University of Michigan hospital
NHS- (11,12)
Attended Natl Young Leaders Conference</p>

<p>Awards:
AAA Travel Challenge travel specific scholarship state finalist (top 5)
Solo and Ensemble (Michigan Orchestra Assoc.)- 2 (good) rating
National Honor Roll (?)
National Merit Semifinalist, submitted Finalist App </p>

<p>Your major would have to be Business with a concentration in Finance/OPIM etc; Wharton does not have an Economics major. Economics is offered in Penn's College, and is very different from studying business.</p>

<p>Yes the degree is CALLED a BS in Economics, but you don't study Economics. Penn and MIT don't think a BBA is prestigious, so called their undergraduate business degrees BS in Economics. If you want to study Economics apply to the College, if you want to study business apply to Wharton. They're very different subjects so make sure you research them properly before you decide.</p>

<p>^Yeah, I know. I realize that Wharton is undergrad business. I just put that down as my major because that is what they call it. :)</p>

<p>You can see this if you look at prior years' decision threads or wait for this year's.</p>
