You’re white. You’re not so much different, eh. Think about how many perfect white people are in America. And I like to think that “worth nothing” is the same thing as “worthless.” Don’t try to argue back by picking on word choices (although if you REALLY want to continue this pointless argument on whether you called the observation experience worthless or not, you can. it’ll just be a one-sided argument).

Again, I am publishing my 3 year old project as a first author and professors and PIs (principal investigators) will NOT publish your name in a paper because you just brought them coffee. THAT is ridiculous. If you know someone with this mentality, I suggest you not get close to them. Again, you’re attempting to tear down my achievements. This is what you’re saying: Since developing a vaccine is such a difficult and great thing to do, how would adcoms know whether you really participated in it or not? must you really bring up such points? And you forgot to answer my question. How long did each of your research publications take and did they require any sort of special techniques?

I never questioned your sincerity. Some people just like to subconsciously bring down others while you yourself might not realize so.

Oh, please. There you go again. “A leg up over me?” what makes you think you do? The AP scores and the grades in junior year? You’re absolutely right. Junior year is the most important. However, my course rigor was highest and as you’ve read I had some things going on at that time. FYI, it was a couple B’s and one C, just in one semester. Colleges do take context into account and look at grades leniently (even if these drops are in jr. year) as long as you show that your intellect is high (36 ACT, high SAT II scores, etc.) and you meet their other requirements. If you want to argue about why you’re superior to me, I’m not going to bother. but if you’d like, I could send you my full resume, which includes a dozen things i didn’t put into my chance thread. Plus, my gpa ups your constantly changing gpa by far. And good AP scores definitely help. But bad scores don’t hurt applicants’ chances.

Listen, when you’re arguing with the OP about whether his own achievements are worth something when he thinks it is, what you’re doing is no longer classified as an advice. Don’t think you’re doing anyone a favor by continuously degrading others’ works. It’s a sore sight to see.

Based on what I’ve heard, it’s harder for Asians to get into good schools because they have to compete with other Asians, who typically have better numbers than white people. It’s a good thing that you are publsihing, you are supporting my advice without even realizing it. As for your question: i’ve published about 6-7 papers, each approximately 45 pages long and took me about a month to write, each. Seeing as this is a historical publication, I don’t use any “technique.”

Well, my school is top 50 in the country, which will explain for a low GPA. Everyone has things going on, and whining about it won’t help you. I have grandparents who have died from cancer and brothers, but, when applying to Ivy League schools, it won’t help as much as you think it will. I’m not sure what you mean by constantly changing GPA. Besides, not considering freshman year, my GPA is higher. The biggest thing is that you have a downward trend. I know that you’re your second semester grades were better, but with a constant upward trend, your GPA looks bad. Lastly, bad scores do hurt chances because it shows that, even though you might have gotten an A in the class, you don’t know the subject well. Which indicates huge inflation, at which point your GPA would be truly worthless.

It’s fine if he thinks his ECs are worth something, I am not discouraging him from doing them. But, from what he has presented, it would be inadvisable to put them on an application. If you were applying to lower tier schools, they would be acceptable. But not for Ivy League.

This white people thing vs. asian people thing is really a narrow scope. There are SO many white people with such great number backing them up. The white people outnumber asians by far in the U.S. To think that you have a better chance because you’re white is really unsubstantiated. It’s what most think but it’s a misrepresented thought. And great job with your researches. I cannot compare mine to yours because substantial scientific researches tend to take multiple years of work and improve humanity in a significant way while historical researches are important in their own ways.

My school is a top public high school in California and I rank top 5% of the class. it’s one thing to have grandparents die from cancer at one point in your life (my condolences to them and you) but it’s another to have be experiencing an ugly divorce which would traumatize people with weak mental stability, find out your grandparents have terminal cancer (meaning they’ll die soon and nothing can be done), look after a depressed “suicidal” mom and help a failing brother. Tell me. Is your brother failing school? Again, please don’t bring up illogical arguments like “I have a brother too.” Talking about just having a brother is very skewed to this conversation. And no, I’m not going to whine. don’t assume things. I’m not even going to mention it, my counselor and Lit. teacher will. Again, colleges do allow leniency in grades to some extent without having hooks (information from a top Ivy league admissions officer that i know). Your freshman gpa might not count. But it is abysmally low (esp. for Ivies and top schools). It may be an upward trend but it’s not like you have a reason for those grades either. I don’t need to worry about this inflation stuff because colleges already know how rigorous my school’s AP classes are through statistics. Therefore, AP scores virtually do not count against me. Not considering your freshman gpa, mine is still higher. I don’t know where you got that from.

you cannot discourage the OP from doing his EC’s because he’s already done them, remember? What you did do was discourage him from putting that on his apps by assuming that adcoms will think it’s stupid. I’ve seen your past posts. About 95% of them are: your stats are too low, its a high reach, etc. What makes you think Ivy league schools won’t see this in favorable light? Are you an adcom? Do you know one? have you talked to one personally? And it sounds like you’re suggesting that all schools but Ivy League are lower tier schools. I’d rephrase your sentences if that wasn’t the effect you were going for.

but this argument is ridiculous. we should end this now. are we good?

My dad is on an adcom, on a top tier school. Unfortunately, it isn’t a school that I will be applying to. All that I have said in regard of adcoms and chances comes straight from him. Look, it is a fact that Asians score higher on standardized tests. It’s jus tthe way it it. The arguement is no ridiculous, and it would be to the OPs benefit to understand that some of wha the has done is not appropriate for a top tier college application. Regarding AP scores, getting 3s IS the statistic. It means that you don’t know the subject well, and the only reason you have an A is because your teachers grade lightly. It’s indisputable. I apologize about questioning you regarding family matters, as it is none of my business. However, those events will not help you as much as you think. About my past posts, they are all true. People don’t post on CC so that people will coddle them and assure them. If they do, than they are wasting their time.

this argument is hilarious! gotta love cc tools

Glad you like it. IMO, you are more of a tool for reading the whole thing.

i didnt… in about 10 seconds (i got a 34 on the act) i skimmed the whole thing and realized youre both losers

I got a 36 on the ACT. Lol the only reason I’m on CC from 1-5 pm is because I’m at work, with nothing to do.

cool well i actually do things like get with chicks

anyways…the OP only has a 31 ACT. has nobody mentioned that yet?

Rofl, cross country runners get all the girls. I’m sure.

LOL.^

hilarious. what a hypocrite.

I’m at work too. waiting for a PCR to finish dum de dum

six pack check. sick tan check. going to a top college check. so yeah i win

oops not you davidoga. you know who im talking about

Yeah that one of XC was to get in shape for wrestling. I’m definantly not going to a good college with a perfect ACT.

Whats a PCR?

lol crimsonuser my research job just ended. yeah doga is a tool

dude im not in this argument but come on. this is an online message board. nobody gives a **** if you have a six pack. and a guy happy about a “sick tan”…come on now

oh dang. how did that not get posted?

I love your real quality: the attitude of a generic stonehead jock.

and davidoga, a PCR is a method in which DNA is amplified

am I the stonehead jock? lol I don’t care about wrestling all that much

dude. you know who im talking about.

telling us were losers and then going on to label himself as a stupid jock? i think we know the answer

and seniorxcbro, no offense. Im sure youre smart and all but i wouldnt talk like that
