wharton is no longer #1

According to my son, if you do the M&T program and wants to do a serious engineering discipline, you really have to take 5 years due to the work load. Most M&T that finish in 4 years end up with an easier engineering discipline such as System Science.

And don’t forget, jds3, your son can still do a dual degree in Wharton and Engineering even if he doesn’t get into the M & T program. On his application, he’ll be able to request that he be considered for general Wharton admission in the event that he is not selected for the M & T program (or Huntsman program, if he applies to that), and then he can pusue the dual degree on his own once he is admitted to Wharton.

“he’ll be able to request that he be considered for general Wharton admission”

Is it the option when he submit his app? or after he got reject from the 2 program?

Very valuable info bioeng.

Thanks

jds3, he would request that he be considered for general Wharton admission when he submits his app–in other words, as a backup choice if he isn’t accepted into the joint degree program to which he applies. He can choose either of the 2 schools involved in the joint program as his single backup choice (i.e., either Wharton or the College for Huntsman, and either Wharton or Engineering for M & T). See questions 1b and 2b on page 13 of this year’s application:

^ The M&T 4 vs. 5 years thing varies a lot based upon the credit you come in with, whether you stay for any summer classes (most M&T students take at least 2 summer classes somewhere along the line), how well you plan out your schedule and the depth of courseload you take, and what your engineering major is. I know nearly as many students graduating in 3 or 3.5 years as I do graduating in 4.5 or 5 years.

What happen if S do double degree and took 5 years, do they still offer FA?

It depends on the details of your situation, but FA is still available for the most part for a fifth year.
