Wharton, Northwestern, GTown, Amherest, Cornell, Brown

Hey guys, I just want to know what my chances are like.

background:
parents are refugees
lived through domestiv violence
lot of friends are serving time
almost been homeless (Subsidized housing)

There have also been plenty of major events in my live:
one of my friends got recruited by isis,
some of my family members got deborted,
one uncle has been a member of a militant group till he got killed.

EC’s:
All these event’s and circumstanced had a huge impact on my life, but I learned to never give up and to get back up on my feet again.

I’m an official member of a political party, I help with organising events we also talk about issues in my district try to find solutions and debate with the city council regarding
some certain beliefs and ideas. For example I try to talk to people regarding the dangers of drug abuse.

I did an exchange year in the US, where I faced many difficult situation which helped me to grow and develop my personality, I learned how to deal with differences, as well as developing intercultural skills by
adapting to new culture, which I accomblished by participating in the Debate team, FBLA and competed in Business contests.

Took some Econ classes in top 5 university within my country and got some impressive recommendation letters,
this made me realize that I’ve got a passion for Business especially finance.

I’m also a “certified tutor” I give free lessons to some of my friends which not only leads to better grades, but it also helps them to integrate more into society. Which is essential for me, just because I wish I had this kind of help before

I also established a startup on 2010 with the help of my local youth center, which tries to offer free music to some of the kids, it expanded pretty well with multiple schools participating in it, it even got so far that we got nominated for the national price “best porject 2012”
However because of the competition with services like Spotify etc. it lost a huge amount of supporters till it officialy died during 2014. But even so, it should show that I’m able to found and manage an institution which definatly shows leadership skills

Internships:
one of the biggest Insurance companies in the world (sold insurances and pension funds)
I might get an investment banking Internship at an BB in London

Languages:
English
Tamil
Mandarin
German

income bracket: 20k<

hooks: URM, first in family, low income neighborhoods, 1 parent living of social security

GPA: 4.0 (translated by WES)
Classes: difficult to say hence I’m international, though I would get credits for them so they must be mainly AP classes

ACT: Let’s assume it’s somewhere between 30-32

what do you guys think, what are my chances at the former named colleges?

I’ve got even more EC’s, but I didn’t really put as much effort into them as the other ones which I truly feel passionate about. I’m just afraid of the lack of any awards. The majority of my free time is consumed by helping others. I didn’t had any time for competing.

Are my chances really that bad, that nobody answers my question?
Or just hard to predict?

I would really appreciate any help…

Push…

Test scores/GPA? you have a great story that definetly will help you.

NVM I am blind, your GPA is great, and although Your AcT is on the low end you have a great shot.

Thanks!
regarding to chances I should add that I will apply for financial aid and while Georgetown, Amherest and Cornell are need-blind, the others are need-aware how much will it reduce my chances?

It’s Amherst, not Amherest. Make sure you don’t make that mistake

Sorry, I did a all-nighter (star wars 1-6^^), though back2topic, I guess wharton is a crapshot

Dang, one of your friends got recruited by ISIS? Sorry about that. But if you can some how write about that in one of your essays (common app or supplement) for Stanford, I think that it’ll favor you in a very well off way (obviously make it great lol). My friend wrote his Stanford supplement about working with a Mexican drug dealer (he was a intern at a law firm in case you were wondering) and got accepted.

@Germankid00 Yeah, I agree with @ayyyyyyy on this one. A really specific experience is invaluable and being able to articulately describe such an occurrence is important in competitive apps.

Alright so I should focus on probably one major event, but should I still mention all the other things in my life?

I would describe one event, but make sure its not just a sob story and that you mention how it affected YOU and your outlook on the world.
