I am new here, so pardon me if I am in the wrong section.

Okay, so I am from Singapore and currently a 2nd year student in a local education institute called a polytechnic which offers 3 years education. Also, I am currently doing Human Resouce Management and thus would like to further my studies based on that.

My GPA is currently at 3.8+ and I am hoping to get it to at least 3.9.

I have numerous EC records, however I am not sure if they are considered impressive.

I just want to know where I stand. And most importantly, what can I do more to stand out? I hope there will be constructive comments. I have asked at other places and they told me that I have no chance at all ): It's pretty depressing.

So anyway, I would appreciate any help I can get! Thanks.

If there's a need to offer other information, please tell me!

Don’t care what others tell you … do your best and will achieve this goal.
Wharton is #1 at business so good luck! Harvard Business School is little weaker than Wharton so you could try it too.

^ Harvard does not have an undergraduate business major, so please, don’t post misleading information.

To the OP: We need to know far more than what you’ve given us. Your SAT scores? ECs/awards? All are important. Your 3.8+ is impressive, but I’m not sure how universities view polytechnic students relative to JC students from Singapore.

So you are saying that i should do my undergraduate at another uni before applying Wharton for Masters something like that? Do enlighten me on this.

As for my SATs, I have not taken it yet. Wondering what is the prime time to take. And when will the SATs play its role, is it during the application process?

Thanks!

I will post my ECs as soon as I get back from school! First time of the semester today (:

Could you clarify if you are currently an undergraduate student (pursuing a Bachelor’s degree) or in a vocational high school?

If you are currently an undergraduate student, you should consider finishing your undergraduate degree, working a couple of years and applying to American business schools for an MBA. It is said that the better business schools prefer applicants with a few years of work experience. Admission is largely based on your professional success.

I am currently in a polytechnic, pursueing a diploma. Not sure of the exact American equivalent term of it.

Anyway, thank you for that advice. I understand as well from kthanksbye that Wharton doesn’t offer any undergraduate program. So I will have to start looking elsewhere (;

Essentially, I am hoping to look for a good business school, something which I can work hard towards. It doesnt have to be confined to American ones. I am fine with British schools as well.

However, I am not too sure of the good business schools in the UK. Someone enlighten me?

No. I actually said that Harvard doesn’t offer undergraduates the opportunity to study business as a major. Wharton, on the other hand, very much does. However, you should know that admission to Wharton is very tough, even for top JC students in Singapore.

Oh! My bad there! Yeah I know it’s gonna be really difficult to get in. In fact, I think I am really holding on to blind faith and hope. Ah well…

Anyway, I am basically interested in good business schools, UK or US.

Other than the likes of Harvard, Wharton, anyone mind giving me a list of schools where I can pursue HRM??
