Rankings should play a minimal role in choosing a college.

The fact is that If he knows that he wants to work in Texas, Wharton is not the sensible choice. NO ONE in Texas is going to go to Wharton to recruit him. That's fact. He'll probably be able to find a job in Texas but it will be harder because he doesn't have the career services of UT and the alumni connections of McCombs. There is no stronger alumni network in Texas than McCombs.

The name on the degree will not matter after the first job. MightyNick, you obviously have no real world knowledge. It is in no way worth the money for him to go to Wharton over McCombs. The salary difference, if any, would not be enough to cover the difference in tuition. People push schools like wharton and harvard all the time, but they are not the be all and end all of college education.

Even though you think you want to work in texas, i would go to wharton incase you change your mind

you probably wont get recruited at wharton to work in texas, but im sure you can just move down and find a job easily, especially coming from such a high ranking school

He goes to UMich Ann Arbor, a freshman.

^^ correction. I'm a sophomore.

Oh, and I've accomplished a very respectable GPA too, while being involved in a good number of extra-curriculars.

that quote was really funny tho. i think that this thread is the epitome of "schools shouldn't be about prestige" cuz you can argue that some school is better than harvard OVERALL but you can't argue that any business school will give you more opportunities/overall prepare you better than wharton

You'll get Job opportunities at schools other than wharton. I think what you should worry about is not being in debt up to your eyeballs when you graduate. It's matter of value. It's worth it to go to Wharton over another expensive school like Lehigh. If you're paying you may as well go to the best. But when the difference is so huge, like Wharton McCombs, you have to think about whether or not the debt is worth it or not.

^^ Why should that debt be a problem when you can pay it off within one or two years?

Uhh..have you taken any business classes? Why wouldn't someone pay $15 for a Big Mac if they can purchase a Whopper for $1.50 ?

Too bad in the real world neither of those will mean sh#t.

But at Big Mac > Whopper.

You talk shi#t. You're full of it too.

What do you mean by that?

wharton is better than mccombs

I'm saying that Wharton is better than McCombs, despite the **** some people are saying. Wharton is worth every penny and the debt, which can be paid off within 1 or max 2 years.

Have you ever had debt from student loans? I don't know anyone who has paid off their debts within 1 to 2 years unless they only needed a very small amount of loans.

Go to wharton, get into i-banking, make 100K+ per year, and pay off that loan. That degree from Wharton is so worth the ridiculous amount of tuition.

But if you're someone like VectorVega or some other red-neck that wants to live in Texas all his life, y'all should go to McCombs.

Good. We dont need yer yank types down herr en tha south. Yew can keep yer 100k investemnt bankin job n work 85 hours a week.

wow i realy want to go to wharton

but does MIT sloan compare..slightly?
cuz i also love mit

Thanks the feedback was greatly appreciated, I think that I will be attending McCombs by the grace of GOD.
