Wharton questions

If I’m applying to UPenn Wharton RD and I don’t get in, do I still have a chance to get in to UPenn as my second choice major??

Also, what is so great about Wharton??

I don't think so, but you might want to check the site or email an adcom. As for Wharton:
1) It's the only undergraduate business school in the prestigious Ivy League
2) It's one of the best, if not THE best, undergrad business schools in the world
3) It has an amazing alum network
4) As Wharton is part of a liberal arts college as opposed to just being a stand-alone business school, you also get the benefit of a liberal arts education
5) Its name is recognised worldwide - I live on a random African island and everyone who works in the business sphere here has heard of it
6) You've got a lot of concentrations to choose from, and you can combine them and whatever, just like you would with 'normal' majors - this gives you unbelievable freedom (you don't just go and get a Bachelor of Commerce from university, you get a Bachelor of Science in Economics that's specialised into 1 or 2 areas)
7) It attracts people from all around the world (I'm interested aren't I? lol), so you really get perspective on different cultures and stuff - which is useful if you want to get very involved with people from all corners of the globe who may have vastly differing points of view in your career.

Hope that's been of some help! :) If you want to know more just start a thread called something along the lines of: Wharton: why it's so great! and hopefully all the Wharton-mad people will flock to post why they LOVE Wharton! :)

Also, MGMT 100 is pretty unique to Wharton. Some love it, some hate it, but nevertheless it's something you don't get exposed to in too many other places!!

there is no separation between wharton and the rest of the university. if you are rejected from wharton, that's it.

and, it's generally acknowledged that while others come close, wharton is the best undergraduate business experience in the world.

1b. If you are not selected for the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business and would like to be considered for a single-degree program, please indicate your choice below:

So I just found this on the CommonApp supplement site (I'm applying RD)

Which one should I check that would make me more likely to get in? Although I do want to do business eventually... so is Wharton impacted?

Well, if you want to do business eventually, go for Wharton! Needless to say, but if you were looking for somewhere where it was 'likely' that you would be accepted (nothing personal, just an observation that it doesn't matter how brilliant anyone is, they can still be rejected), you wouldn't be looking at going to Penn! :) So my vote is for putting down Wharton as your single-degree program!
