Wharton - SAT Math II Score

What would you guys approximate the score for SAT Math II to be where it would actually hurt your application, rather than help it, for Wharton Admissions? 700? 650? I don’t want to submit a score that actually works against my profile/application.

I think Wharton requires the Math II score. S got an 800 and was accepted. I really do not have expert advice for you on what you need, but somehow i would think well into the 700’s is needed. But, perhaps others have more precise opinions

Math SAT II is not too hard. even 800 only places you top 20 percentile. 750 61%. Wharton requires you to demonstrate strong math skills. To aim for top school, there is not much room for weakness.

you should get an 800

I don’t think there is a cut off score per say- I think they look at it all in context of your transcript.

For example, If you received A’s in AP CalcAB and /or BC and 5’s on the exams but had a 650 Math 2 I think you would still be fine…(bc isnt Math2 just precalc anyway?) As long as you demonstrate competency in Calculous thats what matters- Wharton cares more about Calculous. Now if you haven’t taken Calculous and score lower on Math2 you may have more worries…

@runswimyoga :

Would getting a 4 on AP Calc AB my junior year be a problem to adcom? I got A’s in the class, and I’m targeting 770+ on SAT Math II, for reference.

I applied ED and was accepted to Wharton this past year. Keep in mind it’s holistic. For reference if it helps, I was in AB junior year, got a 4 on the exam and a B/B- first and second semesters in the class. On the Math II SAT, I got a 620 at the time I submitted my app. Didn’t seem to make a difference with admissions. They’re very holistic and one area of weakness will not prevent you from getting in. On the normal SAT I got a 760 on the math portion.

I got in with a 790 Math SAT II score. I agree with BigPapiofThree’s opinion.

Ouch. Took Math II today, feel like I barely scraped a 750 :frowning:

I think at least a 740 is what you want to send

Bump - got a 760 on Math II. Retake for Wharton maybe? I’m thinking yes bc I got a 4 on calc AB and want to “redeem” myself by making up for it in SAT Math II.

I’m thinking no. For starters, a 4 is not a bad score. But Penn does not give credit for AB for any score anyway. Additionally, AP scores consider little to no weight in the admissions process, and AO’s are not looking to “redeem” one score with an offset of another.

However, the key, as another poster mentioned, is that admissions if holistic. Subject Tests are just one part of the equation, and a 760 is a great score. If you get rejected for a 760, you would not have gotten accepted with an 800, IMO. Spend the time polishing your essays.
