On the Wharton transfer website it states that certain classes are required before transferring, is that a non-negotiable policy? I recently changed my mind about my major and will not be able to complete 2-3 of the classes before transferring. I will be missing the intermediate level microecon class and both accounting classes (as CU does not offer accounting classes.)

That being said, is it even worth the effort to apply, or will my application be immediately tossed?

Thanks,

I'm assuming you're a potential junior transfer from Columbia. Well just for perspective, this year there were exactly 5 applicants who enrolled as external junior transfers out of a pool of 500+. To be fair the 500+ number also incorporates sophomore transfer applicants. But even if we were generous and said there were only 50 junior applicants (450+ sophomore), that's a 10% acceptance rate.

Given these odds, it doesn't help you at all and in fact may hurt your already low chances not to have the pre-req's done.

just my $.02...

That is what I figured. I am actually not sure if I will be considered a Junior or Sohpomore when I apply for transfer. I have completed one spring semester, one summer semester, and will have completed a full year at CU by the time I apply. I will be on the border between Sophomore and Junior.

I did figure that not completing the requirements would not do much to help me in such a competitive environment...

es four, I'm only a freshman but also interested in transferring to Wharton. Could you post your stats?

Another thing, does Penn allow external transfers to retake the SATs? I think a higher score would boost my chances.

I would be considered a non-traditional student. That being said, all of my HS stats are quite poor. Currently (college) I have a 4.0 GPA and hope to maintain it. Also, I spent three years at an investment firm before returning to school, and have considerable leadership volunteer work.

I'll probably end up sticking with Econ though. I don't think I'll be competitive due to not having completed the required courses.
