Don’t know if you guys can give me a good evaluation, transferring to wharton as a college student is very different than applying to wharton in high school. Here goes.

Undergraduate director of the Economics department at Northwestern… I guess I will get in there…

you havea very impressive resume...why not stick with rutgers for now and get an mba from wharton or such a shcool....since your credentials are great anyway, why not use them to get a "prestigious" mba degree (which coutns more than a BS degree from the same school)?

For your own sake, I would give you the same advice as dostoyevsky. Transferring in as a Wharton undergrad is not necessarily worth it. I would apply as a graduate, since you seem to have an extremely strong resume that could land you a spot for the Wharton M.B.A. program.

Firm placement is important for an undergrad.

certain investment banks and companies just simply do not recruit here. they won't hire me just because of my school. Whereas, a place such as Wharton, all finance firms hire there.. wharton students are actually mentored by people from the industry... which is very important in intellectual development. practical knowledge is invaluable.

I know that if I stayed, I would get the best job when I graduate. But, if I transferred to a Wharton or a Harvard.. I would get a better job. In addition to that, I want the firm to pay for my MBA so that I can afford a PhD in econ or even a law degree.

It's very frustrating here in terms of academics, extracurricular and firm placement... this is only after my first semester of freshman year. I know that I will be more happy at Penn or Harvard.

The debate for me right now is not whether or not I will transfer. I will transfer; I've already applied to 6-7 schools. The real question for me is whether or not I will get into Wharton and/or Harvard as a transfer. Again, it's quite different from the hs application process.

I'm having my boss, who is a managing director (highest position next to president and senior MD) to write a reference for me to Penn/Harvard. His uncle is also a major donor at Wharton.. maybe something will work out there.

Chances?
