Hello,
Im aware that its ridiculously hard to transfer into wharton, but ima try it anyway. Anyone got any links or stats about how many ppl apply/get in and their stats??

Almost no one gets in and they have ridiculously high stats but I think I'm going to apply anyway, seeing as how finance is my passion. By the way, I haven't even entered freshman year yet but I already know I'm going to try and transfer to either Stanford, Wharton, Yale or Columbia.

Wow! would you please share your stats? They must look super impressive.

^^^

How come u think my or his stats are super impressive, we just wanna TRY to transfer, were not guaranteed or anything rofl.

Anyway anyone else thinking of trying to transfer? Post somefin bout urself on this thread,

If you are aiming to transfer to such a top school plus you are not kidding about it, I can safely assume that your profile is great (at least better than average). Or are you just dreaming too much?

dreams come true, you just have to believe =D

I am looking at transferring to. Wharton is my dream school, although i didn't apply to it for freshmen admission. I would still like to transfer there. I am also looking more at schools that seem to except a fair amount of transfer students. Northwestern, Cornell, NYU, and Michigan (especially for in-state).

lol true Adamntine

But im gonna try just for the heck of it anyway. My sat score is gonna kill me , but ill just do anything to get a 4.0 to make them look away from my sat

Easier said that done though...

To Kevin 101, Well I couldn't really give you my stats cause I haven't done my first year of college but I'm going to be a freshman at Vanderbilt in a couple weeks. I have a 34 ACT and was #1 in my class of 30 (not that impressive haha) in high school. My real passion is finance, and I have had a pretty sweet internship at Fidelity Investments this whole summer, and its been a great learning experience. Its also an awesome resume booster and I've already landed an internship for next summer at a top private equity firm in the Boston area (I think that may be my one hook for Wharton). When I'm at college, I'm going to try and play lacrosse (I was captain of my team in high school but I severely injured my ankle this year), join a fraternity, join the business fraternity, join the investment club, and join a Christian fellowship group. I'm not sure what kind of leadership you can assume as a freshman but I'll see what works out...

Johnny, you are doing very good especially taking the opportunity of all those internships, you will learn that later on, you have a big advantages of finding the job. For you, college will be different from highschool, you will feel more intense competition for grades but I bet you gonna ace many classes. One main change is the independent study in college and slacking off sometimes is normal. So remember to study hard + have fun too and always aim toward your ultimate goal why you wanna get a 4.0--transferring to top school.

I regretted that I didn't do any internship and it affected me in my job hunting but well, I'm going to graduate school full time next Fall.

yea good good...anyone else interested in transferring to wharton?

Does anyone have a percentage of how many kids get into wharton by transfer? I'm going to MIT and double majoring in economics and management (with a concertration in finance).. it would be nice to get into wharton though

I was recently admitted as a sophomore transfer into Wharton, and the transfer office rep told me that roughly 20 were taken out of a pool of 500 during the 07-08 admission cycle (don't quote me on that figure). I've heard that over 95% of transfers are incoming sophomores. The only junior transfer that I know of was from way back in '04 or '05 and he already had already secured a top internship in NYC, which was probably his hook for being admitted.

Hope that helps. Post any other Wharton transfer related questions in this thread, I'm willing to answer when I can.

I want to transfer into Wharton too next year as a sophomore, but the problem is that my school doesn't offer economics for freshmen. If I can ensure the Penn admissions office that I'll take econ over the summer (perhaps at NYU or something similar), will I have a chance?

i'm interested in applying to wharton, and i found out that wharton accepts 175/1900, where most students being transferred into wharton are internal transfer students. my GPA is okay, and i'm taking all the requirement courses for stern, which is stricter than wharton requirements. i want to try re-taking my SAT to get a higher score, but i'm not sure if they accept SAT score taken during college. does anyone know about that?

Ocho cinco, I am considering transferring to Wharton too from Northwestern, how did you write your transfer essay? I searched everywhere for an example of a transfer essay and I'm completely stuck. Were your stats good/SATs/college GPA?

Term, Wharton generally accepts 20-25 students. It is no where near 175

sorry to break it to you, but im almost positive that wharton does not take transfers.. the only way to transfer to wharton is if and only if uve spent ONE year at penn first... so u would have to transfer to penn for a year, then hope u can get into wharton

Cubbies7177, I believe you are talking about Wharton internal transfers, yes? Wharton does accept external transfers, we have a handful of CC members at Wharton right now who can verify that. As for internal transfers, I do think you are right. You must spend a year in CAS/SEAS/Nursing at Penn before transferring into Wharton.

Wharton takes about 100-110 internal transfers and 20-25 external transfers.
