Thinkjose1...that's why I would choose Yale.

Yale econ major, chose not to apply to Wharton when I was in the application process for years ago... I'll be heading to Wall St in July so Yale Econ worked well enough in the job search, and many Yale econ majors do very well. Unless you seriously want an undergrad business degree (which I don't know why you would want unless you were at a school like UVA or something), always go for Yale if you have this choice.

How about Harvard economics vs. Yale economics?

Interesting post, YaleSocietyMember.

I decided that I'm going to get a top-notch education at both. I'll be going to where I feel more comfortable (I haven't visited Yale or Penn, yet).

Great mentality, think. If more people had that mentality, we'd have a lot more happy sophomores (and graduates) =p

I think Yale is more impressive than Penn, but I imagine the actual education quality differences would be negligible.

From my discussions with people who do hiring and adults, I don't know how accurate the beginning of that statement is. Take my imaginary friend in Yale and me at Penn talking to, say, a mutual friend's grandma who just so happens to be deciding between us for the same job at a hospital. I doubt at the level that Yale and Penn are both at, where we went to school is going to majorly effect if we get the job (i suppose, barring special programs and specialties) and what she thinks of us outside of the office.

id say it sorta depends what youre looking for. yale seems like it more intellectual and that the quality of education would be higher. yale also has a better name than penn. penn is much more social and youd probably have more fun, but again, its less intellectual than yale, and its in a very urban setting.

gosh, that post of mine was genius

how about harvard economics...

are you guys seriously that dense? it's honestly getting ridiculous. i'm sorry, but going to any one of these top schools IS AN ASSET. you're not going to turn out to be a bum on the streets if you go to stanford instead of penn, or penn instead of harvard, or harvard instead of stanford. in fact, your life will probably be identical or ridiculously similar.

I dunno man. Philly life isn't similar to New Haven life.

Though I may be partial. I spent the weekend at Penn and haven't visited Yale yet.

Wharton and Yale are both spectacular, but they're pretty darn different academically. Topics like finance, accounting, management, etc. are going to be front and center at Wharton and off to the side at Yale. Are you interested more in business as a profession or in economics as an intellectual pursuit?

I'm with you Pandas...The only difference factor between people's success levels, who graduate from ANY one of the schools in the Top 20-25, is their personality/character/motivation.

Probably the former. I'm not sure :'(

ok pandas, i think most people get the point that life will be ridiculously similar regardless of what college they choose. they do need to make a choice though, and getting opinions on which school is better (no matter how unimportant it may be) and giving advice will hopefully help people to make their decision. im pretty sure thats what this site is for...not for declaring that every college is the same and that it will never matter where you end up anyway
