I'm a junior in high school right now, and I'm just wondering what my chances are for getting into Wharton Business.

GPA: All As
SAT: not taken yet, but they should be decent (expecting at least a 2100)

Subject Tests:
Math II: 740
Chinese: 800

Weighted Classes:
Pre-Calc Honors
Chem Honors
AP World (5 on AP Test)
AP Calc
AP English Language/Comp

Next year's APs:
AP Stats
AP English Lit/Comp
AP Bio
AP Economics
AP Spanish

I don't have many extracurriculars, but here's what I've got...
1. Debate (1st place at 90% of tournaments)
2. Arts and Creative Design (Multiple awards)
3. Job at Wells Fargo and Bank of the West
4. Secretary of an electronics company/business
5. Founder and Co-president of Fashion club (11)
6. Council of Red Cross Club (11)
7. Student government (10)
8. Club badminton (9-10; got kicked off because I missed summer training..explained below)

And the last thing I'd like to include (probably the most important) is my international experience. I've gone to China every summer and have negotiated deals for the business I work for (I went to the factories as well)..basically an ambassador, so to speak. I have two patents, and with the commission from the patents, I fund/sponsor underprivileged children in China (whom I have taught for the summers) and their getting an education.

Please let me know what you think of my situation. Much appreciated(: Thanks.

Depends on SAT. 2100 won’t make you very competitive for Wharton, but if you get a higher score you will be a good candidate. Especially good if you apply ED.

Yes, I’m really aiming for at least a 2250. I feel like I’m lacking though, because my ECs are so limited in comparison to everyone else. But thanks for your input(:

Is your curriculum as rigorous as possible?

Also, your ECs are in no way limited. I was worried myself that I didn’t have the typical quantity of ECs as people on here do, but I did what I was passionate about and did it in depth. As long as you do the same, you should be fine.

You have good work experience, and your China EC is astounding. You need to focus on your essays and recs. Those play a part in your decision also. If you manage to convey your passion, what you learned (especially where Wharton can amplify that knowledge or supplement it), etc. in your essays, you should be a good candidate. Make them personal, persuasive, unique, and memorable. Honestly, I spent a whole month (meaning every day in that month) writing my Penn supplements, and another month or two for my Common App.

With that said, URM status, legacies, etc. all play a role. Elite colleges can be very random.

Can I have a future Wharton applicant chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1256342-chance-me-wharton-harvard-columbia-etc.html

Yes, that’s as rigorous as my coursework can get (I go to a small private school, and there aren’t many options).

I’m really investing most of my time in my job during the academic year and job/volunteering over the summer break. (I really am passionate about teaching the kids in China because that’s where my roots are and where I grew up.) It’s pretty hard for me to any other ECs.

And yes, I’m choosing my recs wisely(: I have in mind my AP Calc teacher and AP Economics teacher…also the branch manager at either of the banks.

Thanks for the advice! (:
