Is it possible to apply to Penn's college of Arts and Sciences and apply to Wharton Undergrad as a Junior? How can I help myself get into the college freshman year and then worry about Wharton later on?

Penn really discourages "back door" Whartonites. In order to even have a chance to do this, you must take all the required courses while in CAS and keep a super high GPA

Isn't it literally impossible to get in as a high school applicant?

Not that I have ever heard.

If it were "literally" impossible then nobody would get in. My buddy got in there last year, but he was a crew recruit.

Wharton is hard to get into but by no means impossible

Is it generally harder than the College of Arts and Sciences?

So which one is harder, Wharton or the college of art and science?

Generally speaking, Wharton admits about 500 students, with an admit rate of 14% or so. The CAS admits about 2500 w/ a rate of 16%. Fewer people get into Wharton (500 out of over 4000), but the % is the same. Many might also argue that the competition within the wharton pool might be more fierce, but I'm not sure if I agree with that.

Transfering into Wharton is very very very difficult. You need to have taken all the required freshman classes (calc, economics x 2) and have a very high GPA.

wharton is much higher... but i think it helps alot if you are a minority (urm or a girl!). my friend just got in ED because she is a girl (and also really qualified, but i think that good scores in no way guarantee you admission to wharton...). So yeah, being recruited or some kind of hook is pretty necessary.

How hard is wharton to get into for graduate school?

Wharton MBA accepts about 21% of grad student applicants, last time I looked. Some undergrads matriculate into a 5 year MBA program, but it is very difficult/rare to get into.

But can a high school senior apply for the Wharton school also for undergraduate? Or is the school solely for graduate students only?

Wharton has the only undergraduate business school in the ivy league. An important distinction: many schools (i.e. Princeton) in the ivy league have a fantastic economics program. Wharton has a business "core" w/ statistics, finance, accounting, management and other classes that are designed to teach practical business. One can apply to the undergraduate Wharton School of Business, and the stats for that are above. (Penn also offers an undergraduate economics program, but that is through the college of arts and sciences)

Does Penn also have a business grad school which shares the name Wharton, or is that just the undergrad?

its both undergrad and grad.
