What a Class!

27% in 2010, is derived from the NU Standard Data Set for 2009-10. They provide the number of applicants, number of offers of admission, and numbers of acceptances.

By the way, the Standard Data Set is a great source of statistical information about a school. Many schools release it publicly – google <school name=“”> Standard Data Set.</school>

Well the Daily Northwestern begs to differ but does agree with the 27% in 2009.

[Northwestern’s class of 2014?s acceptance rate drops 4 percent to record low - The Daily Northwestern - Northwestern University](http://www.dailynorthwestern.com/northwestern-s-class-of-2014-s-acceptance-rate-drops-4-percent-to-record-low-1.2213641)

Would you think that schools view it as preferable to appear more or less selective on the College Board website? I suppose appearing too selective might discourage some folks from applying, so maybe NU isn’t in any hurry to update their information.

My son’s school has historically seen 5-6 acceptances per year to Northwestern; this year only 2 got accepted. It was especially tough on younger siblings with better stats who were nevertheless unable to follow in big brother’s/big sister’s footsteps.

College board still shows a 23% acceptance rate versus the 18% reported for 2011. I’m surprised that their data hasn’t been updated.

Collegeboard’s data always lags a year.
