so what about grants, Financial Aid, and such for int. Students..... even if you dont qualify for financial aid are grants still a possibility, and also do you find out about all of that financial stuff after you actually GET IN?

Some schools will offer merit awards based on scholastic achievement or other special talents to internationals. And, yes, you find out about those after you get in. At many schools, there is a secondary application process for those awards.

The top schools - Harvard, Yale, etc. - do not offer merit awards by the way.

None of the Ivies will offer merit based scholarships to freshman. Some schools such as Yale are committed to meet need based for all of the students admitted, including international students.

None of the Ivies offer merit scholarships period no matter what year you are in. There maybe a few named scholarships which students are eligible for but they are also based on financial need. Most will meet 100% of your demonstrated need (Demonstrated need is not what you think you can afford to pay , but what the school thinks you can afford to pay based on the financial information presented). Please be advised that there can be loans used as part of your aid pakage.

Sybbie: Do you know if the commitment to meet 100% demonstrated needs is also applicable to international students? Yale is the only Ivy that specifically mentions that on its website. I'm interested in Brown and Cornell.

elodie: Here's a list of schools that offer financial aids to international undergraduate students: www.edupass.org/finaid/undergraduate.phtml

You should be aware that some of these are based on demonstrated needs.

o ok... thanx a lot, what about loans...ivies dont even give u loans?

good luck getting financial aid if your international
