<p>Some schools will offer merit awards based on scholastic achievement or other special talents to internationals. And, yes, you find out about those after you get in. At many schools, there is a secondary application process for those awards.</p>
<p>The top schools - Harvard, Yale, etc. - do not offer merit awards by the way.</p>
