If there's a college(s) that you're not planning to attend, how would you tell them you're not going to attend? Do you have to send something like a signed letter, or is there an individual online form or something they have to send to you in order to fill out?

Every one of the schools that accepted D had a form or card in the acceptance packet for her to use to say yes or no. They also had a postage paid envelope. Some schools may have on-line forms.

If yours didn't, then e-mail the schools and tell them of your decision. Or you could send snail mail.

Either way, you should let them know.

Only 2 of D's schools had cards she could send back. She mailed short letters this past Monday to all the others saying thank you, but she had chosen to attend another college.

Not only is it nice to thank a school for admitting you, but with so many kids on waiting lists this year, it is the right thing to do.

Okay, thanks guys, just needed a second opinion or two I guess - but who's D lol

D= daughter i believe.

but yeah, I did the same thing- online form, or rejection card, whichever one they provided me.

If one turns down a school and sends the rejection letter, there is no requirement to tell them the actual school that you are choosing to attend, correct?

No, it is not a requirement. Many kids turn down schools before they've even made their final choice (they just know that this particular school is out of the running).
