Emm... I ve just got accepted with merit based scholarship there
However I do not have a good SAT score(But I have a 100+ TOEFL, good HS transcript, not bad ECs, no AP as an international student)
I was wondering...What kind of college is this one???? Do they accept a lot low score students? Or they accept me cuz they have a insight on me???

em...How's the reputation about that school???

My D was accepted to Wheaton College in MA many years ago. My S and I recently visited the campus, but he decided not to apply. I was quite impressed with the available resources and the quality of professors for such a small school, but be forewarned: You’ll be at least 30-45 minutes from the heart of Boston or Providence if you have your own car as it is somewhat in the middle of nowhere.

Nevertheless, the campus is attractive and the surrounding area is beautiful. I do remember being impressed by Wheaton’s administration as well. Hope this helps!

I paid a professional visit to Wheaton a couple of years ago. A colleague and I went to learn about their first-year programs. We were favorably impressed. They are not the kind of college to accept a student who they do not believe will succeed. If they accepted you, they saw something in you.

There is bus service to the train station in Mansfield where you can get a train to Boston or Providence. So a car is not absolutely necessary. Norton is a small town, Mansfield is a little larger. The Wheaton campus is very pretty and the school has a good reputation (including producing 3 Rhodes Scholars).

@hornetdad Thanks so much. It seems like Wheaton College MA is a great school on academic. However, from the recently reviewing on the comments from students/review.com many students said the surroundings&social life are suck there. Also, Wheaton is a kind of rich white spoiled kids school…
Are those TRUE??? I am super worried now…

Beware of some of those websites. If you browse listings for most of the schools it seems like only the disgruntled post. Every school will have it’s disenchanted students. In researching schools, I initially got sucked into those. This website has a better grip on reality. Have you visited? I think spending the night or most of a day, getting to know other students, will answer a lot of questions. FWIW, it’s on our list, but we haven’t toured it yet (D is a junior), but our GC had some positive things to say about the interesting, open-minded student-body.

@nyermom Thanks for your reply. Though I would love to visit Wheaton, I am in China which is far away from America LOL.
It is hard for international students to pick up colleges sometime, but luckily we do have internet and warm hearted parents on it.
Finally, after my discussion today with my friend who has also accepted by Wheaton, we still decided to keep our passion to Wheaton since we think the negative comments about white rich kids there can not cover its advantages on good academic which is what we’re looking for.
Again, thanks.

My daughters acceptance letter came with a hand written note referencing her college essay. That gesture alone made Wheaton stand out. I have had first hand experience of negativity on the internet. While looking for positive outcomes for a medical issue, I realized most people who are happy are too busy enjoying their lives to write the good things. Thankfully, I am one of them and I’m glad I didn’t read into all the negativity. I have told my daughter that her college experience will only be as good as “she” makes it. Wheaton’s gesture was a such a plus on the administrative end, it made her want to see for herself the students views. We’re visiting next week.
