What am I allowed to whine about?

Nobody should expect to get into the Ivies or MIT or Stanford. But you appear to have as good a shot as any, and better than most.

I think you’ll be fine. But look for schools that are supportive, with strong student services. Think about what sort of surroundings will help you. If your depression is bad in the winter, you might want to avoid places with long, dark winters, just as an example.
Given your parents - do you need to be able to get home quickly? Schools that are a long drive or a difficult flight might not be wise. Do you want to be able to hide out - then maybe a big school.
Don’t worry about the brand name/rank. Focus on places that give solid and dependable aid.

Talk about your family issues, not your bipolar disorder. Schools love a kid coming from a rough background, but may be turned away by the bipolar disorder.

^^ ditto. But, dude, you’re entitled to a quick whine. just don’t take it too far  good luck!
