What Amount of Debt is Reasonable/Feasible?

NYU is ~$50,000. If I go there (w/o any merit scholarships) , I will be paying around $200,000 in loans. I really hope I can get a merit scholarship there.

sorry but NYU is defintely not worth $200,000

vbmaxx2, it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to get loans for $200K. Are you a junior? If so, you still have time to look at a variety of schools, including those which may offer merit aid, and in state publics. I can't even imagine parents taking on $200K in loans. If they qualify for that much debt, then they probably will have saved something along the way or will be able to pay some out of current income.

Any other people want to comment, primarily on my situation?

By the way, I called Bowdoin's Financial Aid office and they said anyone admitted from the waitlist will get the same amount of aid as though they had been admitted RD
