So i was accepted into the school of kinesiology at michigan and it was in my top 3. The others are U Miami and William and Mary. To be honest it was probably my third choice but i recently attended campus day and I have to tell you guys this school is amazing. The students are awesome, the academics are the BEST in the country, the campus is spectacular, the professors are unbelieable and the athletics are awesome. Anyone admitted to this school really is incredibly lucky and should seriously consider it. I just wanted to share this with you all! Best of luck to all admitted students and those still waiting to hear!

Now go tell UMich to give OOS students better aid.

^ and to give in state students ANY aid.

but honestly, word. Umich kicks ass and I can't wait!

What is OOS?

Out of State.

Is UMich really bad with OOS Aid ?

Michigan isn't bad at all, it meets roughlly 90% of demonstrated need plus, unlike most of its peers, Michigan actually gives merit scholarships. Of course, some smaller private schools meet more of one's demonstrated need that Michigan, but the main complain out-of-staters have with Michigan (and other state schools) is that they have to pay more than in-staters.

Ah but isn't that true with every State University ?

My aid package really hurt my chances of going there. I like the school a lot but I'm going to end up with at leat 80,000 in debt if I go there. At this point I don't know if it's worth it.

eeemillee, $80,000 debt is not worth it. Go somewhere that you can graduate with as little debt as possible.

Michigan OOS aid is horrible... when compared to most other flagship state universities. However, UM is not like other most other state universities... so its aid should be compared to UVA, Berkeley and highly ranked private schools. Many OOSers can get full (or close to full) rides at the "normal" state universities... and many of these same students get zippo merit aid at UM.

UMich just so happens to be one of the most expensive public universities (for OOS...and instate too?)
