What AP classes are better to take?

Silver Clover;4 years!...thats going to be kind of tough to fit in...do you think that foreign language is more important than science for medicine?

At my school and probably many others, AP bio is intense. Sometimes a chapter or more of reading in one night. Add on chem and physics and you're screwed.

Taking AP French as a junior is a mistake IMHO, unless you're already 100% fluent. Take whatever the next level is (4, 5, etc).

Do you REALLY need to take AP Physics, Chem and Bio, along with Pathology AND engineering? Save some for your senior year...

Drop one of the sciences. Your coarseload looks incredibly unbalanced.

Your course load lacks diversity. I agree with the poster above me. Drop an AP science course. Unless AP French is a joke in your school, I wouldn't jump right to AP if you've only had two years. Save it for later and take a level below it. You also should really take a history or social studies course, even if it's not your favorite subject. How did you get out of taking one? I guess different schools have different requirements but most that I know of require three years.

Come to think of it, don't colleges typically want 3-4 years of history or social studies?

I'm totally taking 4 sciences and no languages: AP Bio, AP chem, AP Physics, Environmental Sci....I can't wait for science mega-load...its the only class I enjoy.

Are you taking math with that as well? However, you are a senior and can afford to do so.
And I took AP Spanish as a sophomore and earned a 4; this year I am taking Literature, the second AP.

go with french. as a sophomore you do not need to be taking three ap sciences.... its 12 hours of testing in a row on a mon and tues. you don't want to burnout so share the wealth a bit

i have actually taken 3 years of french(one in middle school) and I am taking care of my hist/social studies requirements this summer...economics in summer school and goverment by correspondence.....i think what i might do is take french this year, and take AP physics my senior year....maybe i'll have an easier time with it then.....cuz i like bio and chem a lot, but physics and me arent friends....and i have a lot of ECs and SATs/ACTs to worry about this year...thanks for all the help everyone!
logisticslord; are you taking those classes together now?

Good colleges want you to take foreign language to its highest level. I'm not trying to say if you don't you'll automatically get rejected though. If you're ready for AP French, go for it. That's pretty impressive. I wouldn't take care of a history/social studies requirment in summer school though. I'd put it into your actual schedule. Summer school classes aren't taken as seriously as school year classes, I've been told - things are not covered in great depth. You especially should not take AP Physics as a soph if you guys "aren't friends" as you put it. AP Physics, from what I've heard, is tough. I can also tell you from experience AP Chemistry is no walk through the park, so that in conjunction with other AP sciences could very well drive you mad.

Just remember balance is important but also make the choices that are right for you. Colleges do not want you killing yourself in your school work but they do want you challenged in each area and excelling in each area (though an occassional 'B' is fine).

Go with whichever one interests you the most.

My favorite is AP Comparative Government. Its very interesting and unlike crap APs like Lit, it'll actually be of great use. I am taking over 12 APs this year and I can tell from my personal experience that AP World History is a joke. Hope that helps. Take as many APs as your school offers, at least they boost your class rank.

Uhhh, usefulness of a course depends on the student, obviously. And you don't go to the OP's school, where World History may be a rigorous course. Where I go, history geniuses struggle in AP European History, whereas at many schools, sophs take it.
The OP likes science courses and it would appear they will be of great use to him/her. As for the APs boosting class rank, it also depends on your school. Where I go, honors and APs are weighted equally and taking 12 APs, especially a lot online or self-study, wouldn't do jack to your GPA.
My advice to you is to also focus on the stuff in school, too. Don't let a bunch of online or self-studies distract you - they aren't the main thing. Though if you want to independent study one course of interest to you, go for it. :)
Good luck.

thanks..sorry i know this was a long time ago...i just never saw it

I'm not taking AP SPanish next year (will be a junior), but I'm gonna get in my three years, because I'll take it senior year. Why? Because I know I'll get a desperately low score on my AP test.

yeah...i talked to my french teacher adn she said she will help me study for the french test so i can test out of it next year and then take french5AP senior year...so i will get 4 years...adn i can take hte exam....not that i will do well...but whatever

I would say the french, you already have a lot of science.

Any advice on what i should do now that my school german program has died after two years? Independent study?

Take French, 3 science APs is a certain road to death.
