What Ap Exams

What AP exams should you take in 8th grade?

None? To my understanding, very few people take AP exams in Middle School. Of all the kids who went to the Ivy League from my school in the past 4 years – the earliest APs that they had taken had been in their Sophomore year.

I suppose if you really fixin’ to take an AP in Middle School, AP Human Geography or AP Environmental would be a good choice.

Only AP Calculus BC tbh. If you can’t take that, nothing.

I’ve only heard of 8th Graders taking the AP World History exam. Though, these kids take World History 1 in seventh grade and World History 2 in 8th grade. They just have the option of taking the AP World History exam (with a little AP prep). I would recommend, if possible, taking AP Human Geography.

Taking random AP tests in 8th grade isn’t going to help you much in college admissions, unless you’re taking a test that will allow you to take even higher-level courses while you’re in high school (i.e. calculus or one of the science tests).

Outside of that situation, taking the AP class and the test is more “impressive” (not that AP tests impress anyone at top schools, but you know what I mean) than just taking the test.
So if you want to take AP tests this year, you should take ones your high school doesn’t offer or that you wouldn’t have room for in your schedule.

If you’ve exhausted your academic options at your middle school, then look into whether you can take an AP course at your local high school (some allow middle schoolers to take courses). U.S History or World, depending on what you’ve been taught up until now, are probably your best bets. But don’t beat yourself up if you can’t take them. If you can’t take a course, don’t take the exam.

Unless you have a specific reason to take an AP exam (eg. you are currently taking a calculus class) there’s no reason to take AP exams in 8th grade. I know of a few cases of 8th graders doing that (calculus), but other than that, I’ve not heard of 8th graders taking AP exams. I don’t really see the point. AP exams are intended to be taken at the end of AP courses, and very few middle schoolers are enrolled in these.
