What approach to my essay?

Hello. I have an idea to write my college essay and I just want you guys to share your opinions on it. I'm writing on this topic: Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.

I want to show how I learned flexibility, determination, attention to detail, teamwork but at the same time ability to develop as an individual. I want to write about the time when I was enrolled in 4-year music school where I was playing the guitar. I also want to show my commitment to basketball, which I've been playing for 6 years so far. How should I approach that? Is that a good way to present my personality through a combination of those two distinct activities or should I just focus on one of them? I live in Poland and I've read on this forum that it's a good thing to provide some cultural details in your essay. Is that true? I'd prefer to write about me and those activities rather about topic connected with Poland.

Thank you all in advance for responses.

anyone really, please

Its great to show that you learned “flexibility, determination, attention to detail, teamwork” as long as you let the reader draw those conclusions from your description of events. Don’t tell the reader that you learned them. If you can show a common theme in learning some of these from basketball and music it could work well.
