Yes, I took the idea for this thread from another forum. Anyway, can people tell me some bad things about Yale? I'm asking because I have heard many wonderful things about Yale and am interested in getting a complete picture before I decide to attend. Btw, I am not a sour Yale reject hopeing to hear slander to make me feel better!

I read that the residential colleges are not created equal: some get organic food while others eat scary fried cheese. Can any current Yalies tell me if this is true?

Are students at one college able to eat at the cafeteria of another?

Are there any bad teachers or TAs?

Feel free to mention some good with the bad.

To answer your specific questions, the residential colleges are fairly equal. With the exception of Berkeley, all dining halls essentially serve the same food so that is relatively equitable. Students are allowed to transfer to other colleges, except Berkeley, which limits the number of transfers at every meal.

There are always going to be bad teachers and TAs wherever you go, I personally haven't had any, but I know people who have, but I also know people at other schools who have had bad experiences so I would say Yale is comparable to or better than most schools in that regard.

Thanks, what do you mean by transfer? Can students become part of another college or can they simply choose to eat at another college?

Transfer just means that someone eats at a different college's dining hall.
