What are boarding schools with...

What are some top boarding schools with
-Stellar math programs
-Great music programs/violin faculty
-good swim team/good pool facilities
-pretty campus
-good dorm life/good dorms
-good food
-great academics

If this is a little broad, can u pick a couple bullet points and explain why a school fits into that specific category? For example, i am really into swimming, and I know that sps doesnt have a swim team. BUT, sps is still one of my top choices. So, I don't care if a school(s) doesnt fall into one category. This is just a list to get the discussion started!
Thanks guys!
P.S. excited/nervous to start the application process next year!

If u filter for swimming, you’ll eliminate a lot of schools immediately:
<a href=“Boarding School Search Tool”>http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/searchschools.php</a></p>

Then if you sort those schools by SSAT score, you can get a sense of the academic competetiveness:
<a href=“Sort Boarding Schools by Key Criteria”>http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/school_ranking.php</a></p>

Make a list of schools, then visit the schools’ website and use the SEARCH function on CC to seek existing threads on those schools. Then come back when u have SPECIFIC questions/issues to explore.

If u are willing to go to SPS in spite of its lack of swimming, then swimming really isn’t that important to u, is it?

If you are interested in CA schools, Cate comes up immediately. It has swimming and water polo teams for both boys and girls, rigorous academics, very competitive admission, strong math faculty and music program.

I’d just like to point out, from previous posts you’ve made, that almost every top or even middle-level boarding school (including the ones you are looking at) will have a pretty campus, relatively good food, and great academics. I wouldn’t be ruling out schools based on the gorgeousness of the campus or taste of the food, either.

With the other information, Hotchkiss is a top-notch boarding school with an amazing pool facility (Google it if you need), a great music program and arts center, and wonderful all-around academics, including math. Exeter, though not so into the swimming, has an amazing focus on math and the sciences (and their science building is crazy).

Those are just two of the many similar schools that are out there. @patronyork mentioned Cate, which is another great choice. I would recommend using a tool like Boarding School Review to narrow your list down to a max of fifteen to twenty schools. Then scour websites and forums for more information, and figure out what is very important to you (swimming versus arts, arts versus math, etc). Narrow schools down even more, and have a consolidated list of no more than ten to tour and interview. You can even narrow down from there to five or so if you want to apply to a smaller number. However, one of the most important things to remember is to have one or two safeties. This is especially important if you can’t risk not getting in. Don’t get cocky and believe you will get in everywhere. Have a boarding school with a high rate of admissions, a good public school, home school, or a private day school to fall back on, no matter what.

all right. beginning to consider a public magnet school in my area as well.

Apparently Peddie has great swim program…
Would also try to look up samples of several school’s orchestras because they are not all stellar (in my opinion). I would say bigger schools probably have better ones because they have more students coming in with skills in that area.
I think all schools should be pretty good as far as math, though Exeter is known for being exceptional in that area.
Also I think all schools have great campuses, though Taft, Hotchkiss, Cate, and Loomis stand out to me.

Hope you have luck in getting into the schools you choose to apply to!

You want a great swim team? Mercersburg Academy.
