What are colleges looking for in this?

<p>In the writing section there is a statement that says 'Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences in the space below (150 words or fewer, 1000 character maximum).'</p>

<p>Do they want me to say what the extracurricular activity is, or how it has affected me as a person?</p>

<p>The Common Application is intended to present the most complete picture possible of who you are. They don’t want a description of the extracurricular. They want what you write here to give further information on YOU.</p>
