What are considered the best freshman dorms at UP?

Just be aware that special living does cost quite a lot more.

No, not that much more. My SLO costs an extra $25.

Those in north cost more becasue they are in bigger suites.

yeah, that sounds tight.

“Just be aware that special living does cost quite a lot more” - mrtagr

That’s okay. I want my little girl to get what’s best for her.

So if I live in an SLO that’s in East (Substance Free), would it cost more than living in the same place but not in the SLO?

there’s an SLO called substance free?
is there a way to UNREQUEST this SLO so i never get in it?
xD

Hahahahahhaha!

What are the policies with alcohol in the dorms? I know the legal age is 21, but if someone underage were to get caught, what are the consequences, if any? I know I’m really dating myself here, but when I was there if you got caught, you were “written up” by the RA and if there were a few offenses (maybe 3 or so) you could get kicked out of the dorm.

It depends on the RA. I know most, if they suspect you are drunk (ie: publically acting like it in the halls, throwing up, etc) they are REQUIRED to report you to campus security. I am not sure about how many you need till you get kicked out. But I do know if you get kicked out you cant get a housing contract again.

Its not worth it to get drunk in the dorms. If your going to get wasted, get there at off campus places.

I just accept penn state. I prefer North hall and my second choice is Pollock hall. On the web it shows there are two choices at pollock halls. one is regular double and other one is quad w/bath. Does anyone know about quad w/bath. Do they have bunk bed and bathroom in the same room?

Our daughter is a freshman at East Halls. The kids aren’t drunk every night of the week but it is available like at every college across the land…Hastings hall is the oldest building within east…And yes, you will need a fan for the 1st 2-3 weeks of the school year. You will move into another dorm if you do LEAP. And no you won’t be in East halls for LEAP. The only problem with living in East is it’s quite a hike to your classes. But there is a bus loop that you can get on but allow yourself that extra travel time to get to class in the winter.

I realize the upthread convo about alcohol is years old, but wanted to mention that as of 2012-2013, all on-campus residence halls are dry. Even for those over the age of 21, there is no alcohol permitted in dorms anymore. Students in violation of that policy will (presumably) be referred to Student Affairs for disciplinary action.
