Hi
i have a number of questions bout engineering
1.what are most engineers like personality wise?
2.What are engineers like in politics (this is important because i am very liberal!!)
3.Are engineers tolerant of differences and quirks? and most imporant (for me) are engineers tolerent of gays?(see i am a gay myself and don't want to hide in the closet forever.

heh well thanks in advance =)

hahaha nice, Dilbert.

Most engineers are like any other major different kinds of people but some are on the quiet side. I am very outgoing and social and sometimes find it difficult to find people equally as outgoing as me. Quick example most people I talk to hated Orientation but I found it funa nd useful b/c I met so many people but many found it to be boring and useful. But their are many different personalities but almost everyone is smart and wants to learn (not really a personality trait but . . ) I find just as many to be liberal as conservative and this is at a largely religious institution (U of I). There are actually a lot more gay people in chemistry than I thought there would be (facebook tells a lot). It largely depends on the institution. If it is Georgia Tech there may be some problems but many of the top engineering schools seem like they are in fairly liberal areas (CA, many Ivies).

I enjoy the people in engineering but also it depends on what you major in. EE, CompE, and CS will have the most anti-social and least girls. ChemE and GE will have a fair number of social people and girls. MechE, MatSci, and Aero fall somewhere inbetween in that order of most social to least. I'm a chemE and find that provides a good mix of people. I hope this helps.
