Just general questions.

I asked one interviewer what he hated about the school lmao

Is the interviewer an alum, or someone from college administration?

If alum –> ask “why _______________” what his/her job is, major chosen, if he/she liked the major chosen, certain aspects of the school, etc.

Bad interview questions have answers that you could have learned by reading the college’s web site. Asking interviewers detailed information about the content of specific courses or activities of specific clubs also is not a good question since unless interviewers are recent grads in that field or participated in that activity, they probably won’t know the answer.

Similarly, it’s unwise to ask questions about the current college environment of alum interviewers who are not recent grads and who don’t have kids attending the college now.

Good questions are things that you genuinely care about. They aren’t questions that you’ve concocted just to try to look good. If you have a middle aged alum interviewer, you could ask how attending that college affected or changed their life. If the interviewer attended that college, you could ask them what other colleges they had considered, and what made them choose the college they attended.

You can ask alumni to give you advice on how to make the most of your college experience if you’re accepted to that college.

Excellent list from Nstarmom. I would only add, don’t ask Yes/No questions, or questions that can be answered in a couple of words. Questions that begin with “How” or “Why” will usually show that you’ve given a little thought to the matter. For example, if the interviewer is an alum, you might ask: “How has the college application process changed since you went through it?”

I usually ask what, in the interviewer’s opinion, makes the college unique. That question usually goes over well. Another question I used once is "if you could improve one thing about the college, what would it be?

My favorite questions to ask interviewers are “What is you favorite and least favorite thing about College X?” and “What are three words you would use to describe the students who go here?”
