<p>What are good reasons for not having a job while in High School? Also does it look really bad if you have no job for the common app?</p>
<p>It does not look really bad. Working hard on academics in high school can earn you more in merit scholarships than a part-time job would ever give you–not to mention what it can do to your grades. My daughter didn’t even work in the summer because she often attended academic programs and sports camps then. As a parent, I did not want her to work because with her commute to school, she put in a 12-hour day before homework.</p>
