What are good summer programs to participate in?

I'm trying to think of a good summer program that I could do next year, but I'm drawing a blank. Preferably, it wouldn't cost much (below $1000) or would give out merit-based (not financial) scholarships. The cheapest one I could find was COSMOS (I'm a CA resident). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Are you still in high school?

There's a great program at UC-Berkeley.

Investigate Telluride program.

If you live in the bay area, stanford offers this summer research program where they give you a stipend...of course, very competitive.

there's also RSI, which is free except transportation. Again, competitive.

I knew a girl who partcipated in COSMOS, and got accepted to Harvard this year.

Try hunting through the Summer Programs Forum, there are tons of threads like these, especially if you are looking into science programs.
