What are my best options at this point?

I am top 25% of my class, scored a 24 on the ACT(30 English/18 Math), but my GPA is only 2.3. So what is the best I can do at this point? I am a senior right now. I know there are a few big party schools I still have a chance at getting into. I do want to go to a huge college. The whole "small classroom" thing was never for me. Besides I don't like NJ too much anyway.

What do you guys recommend I do? A few colleges I'm looking into are:
Arizona State
Texas Tech
Boise State
Texas A&M
West Virginia(maybe)

There are a few more, but I'm not sure about them yet. How are my chances are these schools? It seems that other than my GPA, I do stack up well for them. As for my major I'm thinking of something business related. But lately I have been leaning toward a career as a state trooper. Any advice would be great.

Do you need money?

Two things you still have control over.

ACT/SAT scores

Essays

If you work hard for the next two months, you may still be able to improve your chances to those great schools :)

Yes, and a lot of it

Forgot to mention this, but I am hispanic and my family has a very low income

Will that hurt my chances?

No, it’ll boost your chances. Being a Hispanic URM is a good thing.

You can get admitted to Arizona State:

[Freshman Admission Requirements, Preferential Deadlines and Steps | Arizona State University](http://students.asu.edu/freshman/requirements)

Students must meet one of the following aptitude requirements:

3.0 GPA in competency courses (2.5 - 2.99 considered)
Top 25% (top 26-50% considered)
ACT 22 (24 nonresidents)*
SAT Reasoning 1040 (1110 nonresidents)*

So you think they’ll overlook the low GPA because of my ACT score and class rank?

It states “students must meet ONE of the following aptitude requirements.” Your ACT score is 24, which is the minimum for nonresidents, so unless there’s some complication such as requirements not met, you should be fine. Check the website that i posted for more information.

One question, and please don’t take this the wrong way, but how can you be in the top 25% of your class with a 2.3 gpa? Just wondering.

Ya I’m hoping that since I technically meet two of the requirements, that they will accept me. Thing is according to the princeton review, statically they don’t accept too many applicants with lower than a 2.3GPA. So right now I just have my fingers crossed while also trying my hardest to raise the GPA as much as possible.

As for your question I go to one of the worse schools in the state of new jersey. So most of the students here don’t bother trying. I think the average GPA was 1.5 or so. It actually seems to benefit me that nobody cares here lol.

What about these other schools? You guys think I have a realistic shot at them?

bump bump bump

bumppppppppp

bump…

I think you have a chance. I would say you definitely are realistic at getting in wvu.
