What are my chances? A Transfer with a bad past but good grades

HI!
So I’m currently in community college and working on getting my associates degree in general studies so that I may transfer to a 4-year university. I had a really bad semester in the winter of my freshman year because of depression and life issues at the time that resulted in me failing all my classes. I am now a sophomore and have since retaken the classes I failed and received a C to A grades, though there was a math class that took me a few tries, my GPA is now a 2.9. In addition I have also had to withdrawal from a few class over the course of my studies because I took on too much (and it was math which I stuck at) so I have about 4 W’s on my transcript too. I was not suspend or anything for the bad semester just put on academic watch because the semester before my grades were good.

My question is how much will this bad record effect my chances of my transfer being accepted? When I transfer I plan to have my GPA up to at least a 3.0 and I will have 62 credits completed. The transfer requirements are at least 32 credits and a min. 2.5 GPA for the school I want to go to.
Please let me know what you think! I’m really worried about this. Thanks.

Depending on the state university you’re looking to transfer to, I would say as long as you make sure you have a 3.0+ and strong EC’s and recommendations, you should be fine. In my state, for the very least, many people transfer from community colleges to the state schools with 3.0’s above; however, other states have much more competitive state schools.

On the other hand, showing that you’re having an upward trend is definitely helpful.
