Did she take the PSAT, and if so any chance to be National Hispanic Scholar? For Students: National Recognition Programs - BigFuture

All of the matches are reaches if applying for BME, although being a URM female seeking engineering I would probably not expect her to be shut out. For some schools she is going to have to apply to a major.

What is she looking for ideally in size, setting, and geographic location? There are lots of schools with BME that would love to have your D. Note that BME is a tough major to get a high GPA in, which is required for med school (and med schools don’t give a break to engineering majors).

For safeties/near safeties…what about Creighton, Iowa, Iowa State, U New Mexico, Arizona, ASU?

BC, BU and northeastern will be closer to low reach. Their last 2 admissions cycles, in particular, have been extremely competitive.

Yes, she took PSAT, and is College Board Recognition Program (hispanic). Does this help?

It’s definitely an award to put on the app, and will garner her merit aid at some places. So she’s NHRP, but not national merit semifinalist? (The NMSF index cutoff is 220 for Texas)

What is she looking for in a college…size, geographic location, setting (urban, etc.)?

I know you say no cost constraints, so $320K over 4 years is doable?

She is NHRP, but not National Merit semifinalist (English is not her first language and the reading/writing sections had a ceiling). 320K is doable.

She loves STEM but has not idea of major. She is looking for liberal environment and excellent education.
