What are my chances..? (Anthropology Major)

Hi. I know like, I have no chance of going to UC Berkeley or UCLA.
At least I’m applying this fall for the first time to All UC schools.
My Overall GPA: 3.3 (By end of summer I will end up with 3.4-3.5)
I’m almost done with IGETC (Only math is required)
Currently on 50 credit
No honors, no tap tags. .

Truth is, my major GPA is VERY low… I’m a anthropology major, and taken 4 major classes in order to transfer.
I have two c, three W because I was medically in trouble for 4 years (which I will write on my essay)
Yup, my one antrhopology class is C.

My ECs are:
2 years Drum Major, 1 year drum major coach.
2013 Rose Parade Section Leader
2017 Rose Parade band drum major/ assist. Band Director
Vice President of Organization
Customer Service Manager for 6 month at freight forwarder company Full Time
President volunteer award, and 10 more awards from governments. .

While I stand out on EC, i don’t stand out on my GPA. I really want to attend UCSB, or UCSD.
What are my chances? Especially when I have such a bad grade for my major classes?
Should I change major and wait one more year to apply?

Here are my stats

3.14 GPA and poly sci major (more impacted than Anthro)

Accepted: Santa Barbara, Davis, Irvine
Waitlisted: Berkeley (opting-in), San Diego (not opting-in)
Denied: UCLA

You should be fine

If you truly do raise your GPA this summer and follow it up with a high GPA in the fall, then you would actually have a solid chance to get into Cal or LA as an anthropology major. Remember that expectations are not universal for applicants. They are major specific. Cal and LA will also appreciate your ECs and an essay that explains the rough start.

Of course, the same will be true for SB and SD if you are simply not interested in Cal or LA. Good luck!

@TheVisionary Not sure about the other three schools mentioned but UCSD does not admit by major.

@DoctorP

UCSD does not admit by major; however, major does factor into admissions. You cannot apply to Spanish, which requires two years worth of prereqs without having them complete. Yes, GPA is the primary thing that UCSD looks for, but you still have to put forth solid application to begin with. Completing all prereqs, achieving a 3.4-3.5 during Freshman year is not the most competitive for UCSD, but they would still have a solid chance assuming they turn it around in the Fall and get that upward trend.
