What are my chances as a transfer?

My GPA: 2.869 after my first semester of college at Loyola. My grades are bellow, I took 18 credits. Things didn't go the way I thought they would my first semester. My major is engineering. I've had the worst experience with physics ever in college which is part of the reason why I want to continue at UMD if it is possible. Anyway I'm looking to transfer into either:

The University of Maryland college park
University of Maryland Baltimore county

I know that my chances are very slim for UMD college park, but what are my chances at The university of Maryland Baltimore county. At the moment I really don't know what to do. Not not having a lot of money held me back from attending The University Of Delaware when I applied for freshman admittance when I was in high school. I know that both UMD's will be affordable, but should I have anymore back ups besides the UMD's?

High school, I had around a GPA 2.9, and a QPA of 3.8. I took a load of honors, GT, and AP classes.

Macroeconomics - 3

Past work experience : Worked at a T-shirt company
Current work experience : Working as a desk assistant at my college

Your GPA may keep you out of the running for College Park, but you never know unless you try–you should apply to both UMDs. Most of the transfers we’ve seen on here have had much higher GPAs from college. The transfer admissions is really based significantly on your college experience thus far.

Good luck!
