Hey, so i'm a senior at a pretty prestigious/rigorous private school in California that sends 99% of students to 4 year colleges. My W GPA is a 3.65. The school doesn't exactly calculate UW GPA, but when i did the calculation it came out about a 3.56. I've taken all/mostly all honors and AP courses as well. While this might not seem as a stellar gpa, i started off slow, and had an incredible grade acension into junior year last year. My SAT's were 2120, and my ACT was a 30.

My extra currics include playing football for 4 years, (1 on varsity, and 1 coaching on varsity b/c of a leg injury that forced me to retire), varsity track for 2 years, holding down a part time job for a year and a half, while also racking up 22 hours of community service and doing 2 community service projects, which included working with habitat for humanity and educating on a social issue. I've recieved various awards for academics as well.

I'm also hispanic from a low income family, and the youngest in my grade (which a lot of people tell me makes me very mature for my age of 16 and a half)

the schools i'm looking at include the following:
Penn State
U of Oregon
UMich
Wisconsin-Madison
USC (first choice)
Boston College
Georgia Tech
Vanderbilt
Wake Forest
NYU
UCLA (legacy)
(maybe pepperdine, or another UC)

feel free to include any suggestions for other schools as well.

Quite the list, I'm in a similar position. PSU, Oreg., SF, Ga.Tech., UCLA (bec. of your standing) will probably work out. BC, Vandy, NYU, and Wake might be longshots, but you have good SATs, so I'm sure at least one will work out. The state schools are harder than they appear bc of state residency. Heck, we may end up seeing each other at Wake, :)

Yeah, my sis also went to SF too, but i'd love to go to a school like sc or ucla or something like that. that'd be sick if we went to WF too lol, its not bad at all

ya thats what my couselors told me, southeasttitan. they suggested that i talk more about those 2 service projects though, which are required from my school which took up more hours than that, so i think its better to mention that.

Speaking again from my "expertise", you might have a hard time at BC/WF. Being a Jesuit school, BC is REALLY into service. It's often the thing that makes an applicant stand out, particularly if they write about it in their essays. When I visited WF, they blabbed about their motto, "pro humanitate" the whole time. it's not that you don't have service hours or anything, but you may need a stronger backing.
I'm not sure about USC et al. It and UCLA are your best bets, living in state. Football will help, it's always a great thing to put on an application ;)
NYU will be a semi-match, but definitely not sure.

ya, but again, i think that the real reason why most people who go to BC from my school is because they talk alot about those 2 service projects that we have to do, because they take up so much time and they add on to those other hours we do. so really on the outside it doesn't look too great, but when you dig down and find out the other stuff, it looks a whole hell of a lot better.

Bubbletoes1-- HC is a great school and has alums and other supporters who choose to bring it to the attention of prospective students searching for an exceptional college.
