What are my chances at an elite engineering school?

I am interested in going to a school like Caltech, MIT, Cambridge, Stanford , UC berkly , or Harvey mudd. The first to (calteech and MIT) are my first two choices. At this point i would major in CS and go for a PHD and minor in Bussiness and get a bachellors or if i have enough time a MBA. However, I may go for engineering but at this point no.

So if you could please answer the above questions id really appreciate it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Plan : I want to major in either computer science, or engineering and get a graduate in it, while getting a bachellors in bussiness. I am currently a incoming sophmore so im very young yet i really focus on my future. I am alredy prepping for the SATs with a few books. Is this the school for me? The following is my highschool schedule what should i change.
9th>>><<< English 9cp>> Algebra 1cp>>Health/Geography/Careers>>PE>> Spanish 1 >> Physical science cp
9th to 10th summer>>><<< Geometry semester 1 and 2 taken ONLINE
10th>>><<< ACD English 10cp>>Algebra 2cp>>>ACD World history>>>PE>>>Spanish 2>>>ACD Biology Cp>>>Mass Media
11th>>><< English 11cp>>>Math Analysis H>>>US history AP>>>Spanish 3cp>>>Chemisty H>>>Computer programming 1
12th>>><<<english 12cp="">>>Calculus AP>>> Physics AP>>> Computer repair ROP >>> Economics and Politics CP/AP (ill figure it out later on)</english>
ACD = Academy. I am in the academy which changes certain courses to be acd courses. These courses are focuses on my choice of topic, for me computer repair specifically and bussiness and IT in general. So my essays in english for ex. would than be based on computers.
ROP = Off campus class with hands on training.
^^^^^^DO I HAVE ENOUGH APs?????????????????????^^^^^^
9: 3.833 and 3.5 = 3.66
9.5 (geom) : 4 and 3 = 3.5 BUT ITS NOT ON HS TRANSRCIPT on byu trans.
10: Gonna work harder and shoot for a 4 but since ill have 7 classes i will most likely get 1 b meaning ill recive a 3.86 - 4
11/12 : who knows but ill have H and AP so ill have it weighted
ECs So far-
* Plan on over 80 hours of community service (20 already)
* Became comptia A+ certified (cert. pc tech after self study) at 15
* Member of CSF (requires 3.5gpa and 10 hours of com. service a semester)
* Creating a computer based club this upcoming semester, i plan to be the president of this club and take an active role in it though my senior year
* Getting a job at the geeksquad my 10th-11th grade summer
* Plan on taking more technician classes at comptia.org (network+ for ex)
* Academy program includes job shadowing, interns, and interveiws. Also includes feild trips to companies. All based on computers and bussiness (however at any time if i choose i may go into the engineering academy)
Cant really count...yet
*Starting to program so ill have some programming ECs hopefully!
* Working on a new product , and im hoping to sign a deal with companies like samsung for them too sell it, but of course cant really count this one
* Was 5th class president, not sure if colleges care because some people say it does matter while other say they dont really consider it a good sign of leadership
SATs: I plan on taking the SAT and the SATII at the end of 10th grade or the end of 11th grade (not sure yet) Have yet to take any PSATs but ill update after i take some from books i have. Yes, I am already studying.
Application : obviously havent written an essay but i am going to send in for the early application (early choice)
Me: Live in southern california (30 min to LA) and I am male of italian ancestroy (born in new york) .
Please note i am doing this stuff strictly because i enjoy it but i am wondering what i should add in so that the schools i listed might accept me.
Thankyou in advance for any comments.
mtf612:
UCB: Slight Reach (Engineering)
Any more coments and flopsy what should i add/change? Dont forget i am only an incoming sophmore meaning i have plenty of time to get more ecs but class wise is pretty much how it will be. Do i have enough aps ?
I haven't completed this process yet (applying this fall), but my advice is just do something you enjoy. Find something you like and everything else will fall into place. Try not to stress about the little things, take hard classes, and do good on your standardized tests.
An eliete engineering school you might consider is USC. Its right up there
For ECs, look for a post by "Northstarmom" on WindCloud Ultra's thread entitled, "Weak ECs...so what's good?" This will tell you what you need to know.
Also, you should work on your English writing since it is not your first language and the new SAT (which you will have to take) requires that you write an essay as part of the test. You should get some practice on this. Talk to your English professor or get some SAT prep books (which you said you are already doing).
Three other top engineering schools to consider are Franklin Olin School of engineering, Rose-Hulman, and Carnegie-Mellon. These are all out-of-state, however.
Good luck to you.
Calcruzer english is my first language lol.
Ya this is the stuff i enjoy which is why im doing it but i want to know what to add to my list. Is 3 AP courses really enough? I obviously cant take any APs in 9th and 10th (i set my 10th schedule alrweady) and i have limited oppurtunity for 11th and 12th.
BUMP
Do i have enough aps and what else should i change?
Sorry im kinda obsessed with getting into a good school : )
calcruzer: i second Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering. Also, consider UT Austin, Michigan, and Purdue. mit, caltech may not be an easy in for you.
oh yea and if ure really interested in MIT and Caltech then do some kind of research and win an Intel or Siemens comepetition. or go to international science fair. then regardless of ur sat scores ure in.
what is with your format? it's weird. Based on your GPA alone, those schools are reaches.
I know MIT and Caltech are reaches (not huge at this point depends on SATs and GPAs for next few years) BUT i want to know WHAT i SHOULD do to improve so they are less of a reach. I would litterally be the happies man alive if i got accepted to either MIT or caltech (preferebly caltech) but i know they are really high up there. I know i most likely wont get in but i want to work hard enough and plan to get accepted. This way even if i DONT get accepted to those 2 schools i will have MUCH better chances at other good schools.,
Calcruzer I just read that post and was happy to see two things. 1 the bussiness element is a grewat EC according to the post, and as i mentioned i am planning on selling a product and possibly opening up my own company.
2 The poster said that creating your own CS project looks good if you get many members. I actually organized a food drive and raised 508 pounds of food for the homeless in DEC. 05 for CS. I plan on doing this food drive every december, and this one I plan on getting as many organizations as posssible to help me collect food.
BUMP AGAIN.
What should i change?
Do i need more APs?
You don't even have SAT scores, or junior year grades. Based on what information you have, I'd say that you would be rejected at MIT and Caltech.
Atomicfusion i havent even started 10th grade lo. You gotta read man.
Im asking is this schedule, and if i got wicked sat scores and a high gpa (4.0) would MIT or Caltech consider me or even accept me. I wanna know what classes are unneccessery. I want to know if i need more ap classes. That sorta thing.
