Thanks a ton! I am strongly considering the PLME program, but am extremely apprehensive about getting accepted since only like 5% of applicants get accepted!
thanks again! i reallly humbly appreciate your help! =)

You have amazing, I truly mean amazing, scores! I think you should get into the PLME program. However, if you don't, you would be fine wherever you end up going.

plme is tough for anybody, so be sure to emphasize your medical experiences. also, there are plenty of other BS/MD programs that are excellent (Northwestern HPME, Rice/Baylor, etc.) so make sure and apply to some of those too. good luck!

thanks a ton!
hpa10 i have also researched the HPME program at Northwestern.
Which one do you think is better or easier to get into HPME or PLME?

They are equally hard. HPME needs an interview, so be able to talk will be very important for HPME. They interview about 100~120 applicants, and accept 30~40.

Is there anything more I can do to better my chances in getting accepted to PLME? Any tips/ suggestions for the application process? Also, can one bad grade affect my acceptance? I have had 1 B, but it was in a AP Chemistry class and that's the only thing which brought my GPA from a 4.0 to 3.9. Sorry about all the questions. Oh, one more question sorry, do any of you know about more programs similar to the PLME and HPME?

^Rice/Baylor. which is, imo, the best bs/md program in the nation. rice univeristy for undergrad and then med school at baylor college of medicine (which is one of the best med schools in the nation and is not affiliated with baylor university). feinberg and the brown med school's (warren alpert?) are nice, but very few medical schools can top baylor. there are tons more programs though. look at the multiple degree sub-forum under pre-med and med school.

Personally, I do not know why anyone would want to spend 7 years in the same place. What if you do not like it? The great thing about Brown, is that it allows you to apply later to any med school you want..( of course you will have to take the MCAT and go thru the whole applications thing..) Then, you can have the opportunity of being considered at awesome places like Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Penn, Northwestern and Duke..

Sorry hpa10...I am not into Texas schools at all. No Rice nor Baylor here.

So does HPME

and so does Rice/Baylor. im not sure, but i think most of the programs will let you apply out as long as it's not an accelerated program.

i understand the not liking texas thing. but anyone that completely writes off a school because it's in houston clearly does not know anything about the city. No. 1: Houston, Texas - Kiplinger.com
