Hello Everybody!
I have a pretty low gpa with a 2.95 weighted and an ok SAT of 1990 (Critical Reading 680, Math 660, Writing 650). My 10th grade gpa was low but I raised it significantly in 11th grade to a 3.5 (w). I received 3s on my AP Biology, AP Art History, and AP US history tests and have around 150 ec hours. I was wondering what my chances are for Cal Poly Pomona and any other CSUs.
Thank you!
thats 9-12 A-G correct? 2.95
CSU GPA is 10-11th grades A-G courses only even though the CSU Mentor GPA calculator states 10-12th.

Your eligibility index using your CSU GPA and SAT score is 3676. Here is a link to the SJSU EI thresholds which will give you an idea of your chances for most of the CSU’s and the major(s) you are interested in applying.

Impacted majors will have higher thresholds at Cal Poly Pomona and the rest of the CSU’s, so you need to check each school of interest to see if they post a minimum threshold required for the major.

Based on your EI, you have a decent chance at most of the CSU’s except for Chico State, Fullerton, San Luis Obispo, Long Beach, San Diego State and possibly Sonoma and Pomona. Your SAT score shows that you are a capable applicant and an upward GPA trend will help.
Look to your local CSU as a possible safety since you will receive priority. I would add one of the non-impacted campus as another safety. Here is the list of impacted/non-impacted campuses.

Good luck and apply broadly.
Thank you so much for the help! I know I slacked off my sophomore year when I should have been focusing on my grades and from that my averages have suffered. Despite this I have a very significant upward trend in my gpa from 10th to 11th grade so from what you said that should help. I know I can succeed in college and I hope that at least my SAT score reflects that. As far as the CSUs that you mentioned as being harder for me to get into go, would you say it would be a reach/high reach for me to get in to at least some of those schools mentioned or would you see it as a waste of time for me to apply?
Also I live in L.A. county so csula and csulb would be the two in my local area I believe
CSULA would be a Match. CSULB would be a Low Reach since you want around 3900+ EI to be a competitive applicant. Cal Poly Pomona is probably a High Match/Low Reach due to Biology being an impacted major. If you want to stay in the LA area, consider Northridge, Dominguez Hills, San Bernardino. You meet the threshold at SJSU so you should add that school to your list.
Here is a link for the local service area for each CSU. There is only 1 CSU associated with each service area, so use the link to help you figure out your local CSU. http://www.calstate.edu/sas/onestopkiosk/documents/CSULocalAdmission-ServiceAreas.pdf
