What are my chances at Cal State Long Beach, University of Southern California & NYU

I am a sophomore in a Connecticut High School going into 11th next year. My GPA is around 3.75-3.8 unweighted and a 4.38 weighted. I am president in one club, possibly two. I am also a lead volunteer at Yale Hospital, volunteered for over 160 hours and I am a full-time writer for two sports websites. I take all honors classes and one AP class. I plan to double major in Finance or Economics and Journalism/ Communications. What are my chances at these schools?

You might have a shot as it is, but these are highly selective schools. If you have good SAT/ACT scores, continue to take as challenging of classes as you can handle, and have a good class rank, then you should be a strong candidate. The sports writer thing is unique, so keep that up!

Without some standardized test scores it’s going to be tough to give you guidance. Your GPA is at the 50th%-tile for admitted USC students; I suspect that’s also true for NYU. Assuming that your scores come in at a commensurate level to your GPA I think both those schools are Matches, (I don’t know anything about CSU-LB).Come back after you take the SAT/ACT.
