I'm most interested in the Direct MD programs such as Caltech/UCLA, Brown, Baylor2, Rice/Baylor, etc.
If I can't get into those, I would like to go to a school where I can do well in biochemistry and be able to maintain a great GPA but learn well for the MCAT so I can stick out as a candidate.
Does anyone also have any recommendations for me as far as being a good candidate for direct md programs? I would love to get into Caltech/UCLA but am not from California (I think they give heavy preference).
Also, does it matter which undergraduate school I go to if I don't go direct md? Do medical schools just care about your grades, GPA, and MCAT basically? Does the school matter? Would going to an IVY undergrad help?
