Is your GPA weighted or unweighted? And what courses have you taken so far and will take before graduation? Any AP/IB/Dual Enrollment/AICE/etc courses?

Just based off a 3.4GPA and 1660 SAT plus your ECs, I’d lean towards not being accepted. Out of state applicants are less likely to be admitted, as the standards for applicants are typically much higher than in state. That is not to say you won’t get in, but I think you’d be about 50/50.

Hi to the OP -
In my opinion, I totally disagree with the above poster-
I think your chances at admissions to FSU is minimal at best.

You have several serious negative factors working against you-

Out of state applicant

I assume you are applying during the second wave of applications

If your weighed GPA is 3.4, then another serious deficient

An SAT score of 1660

Attending a private school

Asking if someone had bad grades doesn’t mean you assume that they did. Wow.

You posted asking for opinions on what your chances were to get in. People gave you feedback, including asking for a more complete profile of yourself to make a more educated guess.

I noticed that you never answered any of my previous questions about your completed courses. And you’ve been hostile towards others here.

I didn’t respond to your questions, not purposely though

Is your GPA weighted or unweighted? And what courses have you taken so far and will take before graduation? Any AP/IB/Dual Enrollment/AICE/etc courses?

My GPA is unweighted because my school doesn’t offer APs/IBs/Dual Enrollment/etc…it only offers honors classes which do not increase your grade at all.

The major classes I’ve taken/am taking are Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Algebra 1, 2, Geometry , Trig , Pre-Calc, English 1, 2, 3, 4, Spanish 1, 2, World History, American History 1, 2 Psychology, Accounting…all of which are honors classes…I may be missing 2 or 3 classes here or there…but I’ve taken mainly all the major classes…My school doesn’t offer classes like photography, statistics, creative writing, etc

Honors classes are weighted an additional 0.5 points. IE: An A in an honors class is worth 4.5, a B is worth 3.5, and C is worth 2.5. D’s and F’s receive no weight.

Make sure to only count academic courses. Classes such as band, driver’s ed, art, PE, health, etc do not count.

I believe the middle 50 percent is 3.7-4.1, so a 3.4 would be a bit tough. Your SAT score also isn’t overwhelmingly high, and probably wouldn’t help a 3.4.

You do have an excellent list of clubs and activities, and if your essay is great, you still have a chance. Your class rank is also great, which is what leads me to believe your weighted GPA is better than a 3.4. You have things going for you, and FSU showed in the previous wave of admissions they care about a lot more than SAT score.

Unfortunately, applying late, a mediocre SAT score, mediocre GPA, and being out of state might be too much to save you.

When I called FSU yesterday the admissions lady said that the incoming 10-11 freshman class SAT scores ranged from 1680-1920, I may have a chance lol…I didn’t ask about gpa however…And why does being OOS work against me? I thought being OOS was beneficial to the school and it’s diversity ?

I’m OOS and I (very surprisingly) got accepted for summer. I never really considered FSU since I didn’t think I could get in so UCF was always my number 1. Well, they deferred me for summer (what a joke) and then I heard about my acceptance from FSU and I was soso excited!! I’ll give you my stats:

1680 SAT
24 ACT (25 Superscore) not sure if they superscore
3.3 UW GPA
Varsity Cheerleading
All-Star Cheerleading
75 hours of community service
Part-time job

& more.

I honestly don’t even know if I submitted my essay, because now that I look at my portal there is no section for it.

Good luck, I wish you the best and hopeful that you gained some confidence from my post! :)
