What are my chances at Georgetown/GWU.

Hiya,
I am currently a junior in High School and am looking at colleges I will apply to in the upcoming year. I know what I would like to do and money is not really an object, as my parents would be willing to pay for me. I am planning on majoring in Political Science and possibly double majoring in History, at the least with a minor.

I plan to get involved in Politics, and also go to law school, so I was looking at D.C. for internships, but I would like to know how all the schools rank, not only in D.C.

My high school stats:
3.67 GPA Unweighted, 4.4 Weighted.
10 AP classes:
U.S. History - 5
Biology - 3 (I didn't have a teacher to teach it well)
Language - 4
Literature - 5
Economics - 5
Government - 5
Chemistry - 4
European History - 2 (I slacked)
Calc AB - 4
Calc BC - 4
The rest of my classes that were required were Honors.
(For statistical purposes, a 6 of these AP's have not been taken yet, but I expect nothing lower on them, so for the purpose of this thread, assume that the scores are as recorded.

SATS:
Math 720
Reading 710
Writing 670

ACT
Haven't taken yet

Clubs/Activities:
Student Government: (4 Years)
Will be President of Student Government next year.
NHS: 2 years. (All it offered)
Calc Squad
SSBTR (Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research Co-President next year) A walk in which we raise money for brain tumors. Raised over 1M since I have been involved.
Varsity Lacrosse: (2 years. Varsity captain last year. Quit this year and don't plan on playing again)
Baskin Robbins employee for a year soon enough. (and have been promoted to the highest position possible)

8 Leadership Camps for Student Government throughout Arizona in which other Student Government kids go.
State Convention for Student Government. (2 years and selective.)
National Convention for Student Government. (Fairly prestigious and highly selective.)

What are my chances at the "good" colleges? Specifically Georgetown/George Washington University, but if you could recommend something other than those, which are good for Poli Sci/History that I have a chance of getting into, please do!

Thanks!

i visited GW and Georgetown, and fell in love with GW and liked Georgetown. i would highly recommend those school to just about anyone. Also, i dont think you'll find a better two schools for polisci internships, as both of them have many arrangements where spots are held exclusively for their students.
assuming your AP scores come out as you guessed, I dont think you'll have a problem getting into either of these schools.
i would just say that if you have the time to study and get your SAT scores up, it cant hurt. but if you dont have the time, i dont really think you need to

as for recommendations for other schools, i cant help you out that much since i'm not pursueing a poli-sci study. i do know that johns hopkins in baltimore is a quick train ride out of dc, and that a lot of their students have internships in dc. so it's worth looking into, especially since it has a nicer campus and a more well-known name than GW or Georgetown. but like i said, i really have no idea what its poli-sci program is like.

Thanks for your reply. It was very informative! I am bumping this up for further discussion.

I think you have a great shot at both these schools, but, as Coventry said, bringing your SAT scores up a bit can't hurt and should really seal the deal.
In regard to PoliSci, again Coventry is completely right... you can't beat the heart of Washington for internships. American would be a good safety school for you, and Columbia and Princeton are good reaches.

Thanks a lot for your help, sselbor!
Does anyone else have an opinion on Georgetown for me?
Also, if anyone has attended Georgetown, did you like it?
Thanks!
