What are my chances at getting in?

<p>Hi, so I'll be a senior this coming fall and I'm super concerned about college. I would really like to go to UIUC, most likely to major in Biochemistry or something that'll prepare me for med school, but I'm not sure what my chances of getting in are. Some opinions would be great so I can get an idea of how many other schools I should I apply to :)</p>

<p>Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gender: Female
ACT: 28 (9 on writing)
GPA: 3.95 (unweighted); 4.14 (weighted)
Rank: 6/265
ECs: Key club, drama club, varsity tennis, German club, Class Gov., National Honor Society, and I have had a part-time job sine September of 2007</p>

<p>Our school only offers AP US History and AP Calculus, (I took APUSH last year, and I'll be in calc this coming year) but we offer duel credit with a community college in English, Sociology, Pyschology, APUSH, AP Calc, and Western Civilization... all of which I have or will be taking. Also, I've taken all science courses offered including Adv. Chemistry, that was only not considered an AP course (even though we used an AP book) because the teacher isn't certified to teach an AP class and this was the first year that the school offered it.</p>

<p>I've taken the hardest courseload possible and will conclude with:
4 Years of honors English (We consider the duel class "honors")
6 Years Science (Bio, Adv. Bio, Chem, Adv. Chem, Phys, Earth Sci)
4 Years Math (Geometry, Adv. Alg, Pre-Calc/Trig, AP Calc)
4 Years foreign lang. (German)
4 Years Social Science/History (world hist, APUSH, sociology, physcology, west. civ.)</p>

<p>The rest of my classes were devoted to graduation requirements (P.E., Dr. Ed, etc.)</p>

<p>Will no art or elective classes hurt my chances? And I wasn't planning on taking the ACT again in September, but should I reconsider? Will all the duel credit hurt or help me? Thanks in advance for any help :)</p>

<p>just dont mess up the essay or something but im pretty sure u will get in. u could take the act again but im pretty sure u could get in without retaking it. what other schools are thinking about applying?</p>

<p>I think you will get into UIUC with your current stats but, if you are applying for UIUC's engineering school, try retaking the ACT if you have time.</p>

<p>Thanks for the help :) I'm in-state, and I go to a public high school... Only about 10% of each graduating class actually go onto a 4 year-university, but most who do apply to UIUC. I'm not sure if this would hurt my chances.</p>

<p>I wanted to apply to Northwestern UChicago, but both of those I think are big reaches. The problem being, I want to stay in state, but get a good education... really narrows down my options.</p>

<p>You'll definitely get in UIUC because you're top 25% of your class and you're hispanic. UIUC cares a lot about class rank so being that high in your class is important. I also think you would have a shot at Northwestern and UChicago because you come from a disadvantaged high school so they would want some diversity. But UIUC is 100% in my opinion.</p>
