what are my chances at getting into these schools?

just doing some early college research and wondering if these schools are realistic for my SAT scores/ grades.

SAT: 1980 660 CR 660 Math 660 Writing
Grades: 3.7 GPA (unweighted) with 5 APs

thinking of majoring in accounting or finance, for these schools keep in mind I'd be trying to get into the business schools.

if you could just answer yes/no/maybe/probably to these it would be really helpful, thanks!

-Boston University
-Wake Forest University
-University of Buffalo
-Binghamton University
-University of Pittsburgh
-University of Richmond
-Indiana University
-University of Maryland
-University of Wisconsin
-Cornell University

thanks for the quick and informative replies guys!!!

I would suggest Boston U. It’s great for your major and you’re right in their range as far as stats go.

Yeah I really like BU so far, it’s definitely one of my top choices. Thanks for the input!

. . . . . .

I agree with mandypandy. Bu sounds perfect for you and you can definitely get in. It’s very expensive though. Good luck

Thanks ab8894, the financial part is the one thing I’m worried about! Does anyone know about their financial aid/ would I have a chance at getting a decent amount of aid from BU or any of these other schools?

the average SAT score for cornell i believe is like a 2020 from what my friend told me the other day, so u r bit on the low side there, but not by much. however it is also important to keep in mind that alot of those lower scoring people are legacies, kids of employees, ect. In short, they get preference over normal people like you and me. GPA is pretty good for all those schools.

Like the others said, BU seems like a perfect match for you, cornell is like a low reach i would say, and rest you are most likeley in!

GL man

Thanks Dinomite, anyone else have any opinions on this? I’ll chance you back!

BUMP. I’ll chance anyone back!

@Dinomite , I think your mistaken. The average for Cornell, at least in engineering, is around a 2200. Also, subject tests are required to apply. I say it would be difficult to get into Cornell; however, your GPA and test scores are great and could potentially get you into those other schools.

I think you have a pretty good shot at most of them, assuming you have good extracurriculars. The only one would be Cornell, since they are highly selective. Good luck with your search!

Thanks howmanyofme and fantasiekey! Yeah I have a pretty good amount of ECs in sports, business clubs, volunteer work, employment, etc I forgot to list all of that stuff haha thanks for the input! The main reason I have Cornell on there is because they’re recruiting me for football, so I thought I’d give it a shot even though my scores are a little low

Can someone give me some input on university of richmond and wake forest? They were originally low end reaches for me but should I start considering them more if I have a good enough chance to get in?

. . . . . . . .

You are definitely in all of these universities except maybe Cornell
If you raise your SAT score and break 2100 you will also have a good shot at Cornell

Well, I dont know about UoR or Wake Forest too much, but I think it would be optimal to get a higher SAT score. If its not too late you should also take the ACT. My guidance counselor told me if you prefer interpreting graphs than reading more sentences, the ACT is better. ACT has more of a reputation in the West though, but it wont hurt you if you take it. Chance me back? thanks

You need to give me the link

. . . . . . . .

The amount of financial aid you get kind of depends on where you live. If you are out of state, you will get less aid. However you may have a shot at getting scholarships. Dont take the ACT; I personally think it’s a waste of time and effort. I know people who took the ACT and they got scores similar to their SAT scores. Why don’t you try NYU? I think you can get in there and it’s a better school than BU. Take a tour. They have an excellent business program and they’re location is perfect! You can land a job on Wall Street after graduation.
